So Mr. Pfleger said some out of place thing about Hillary....
Edited on Fri May-30-08 09:33 AM by Katzenkavalier
What the hell does Obama has to do with it? Did he tell him to say those things? Was he there clapping? Did he approve those words?

If not, what's the fuzz all about? Now every time a clown says something offensive in Trinity, Obama is to blame?

1. of course not
but, you should understand why he chose to rebuke the man, and why others have encouraged him to do so.

2. I think both Revs. Wright and Pfleger are two clowns.
Still, Obama can't be blamed for what they say.

4. Pfleger's comments came less than two days after assassination-gate
Not trying to excuse it, but I think that's what motivated him to say something about Hillary.

5. is there no point where strident critics will assume responsibility for their own words and actions
. . . without pointing to what someone else may be doing?

7. Is Hillary going to pass out campaign buttons at her rally today
about this issue like she did for bitter-gate?

3. When they put OBAMA on the name of the church they'll have something to moan about.
Until then it's a seperate entity and the wounded feelings can go take it up with Trinity.

6. I don't blame Obama for what these jerks say
I am disappointed in the reaction on many DUers in cheering on this jackass. That so called priest is disgusting. preaching racism and hate, campaigning from the pulpit.

I am used to hearing bigoted and racist BS coming from the Mega churches. However hearing this nasty shit coming from what is supposed to be my own side? Ugh.......

Talk about disillusioning...... that is what this whole primary has been.

8. Apply the goose-gander standard
If someone from McCain's church was mimicking a politician and braying "I'm black, I'm entitled," would you want the Obama campaign to make political hay of it? I imagine so.

Similarly, when Trinity United invited this man to stand on their podium and preach, they knew who they were inviting. He was not employing a new style that day. I fully expect the Republicans to milk this for all the division they can sqeeze from it. That is the environment we live in.

9. What if it turned out that there was a pattern?
A pattern at that church of inflammatory and divisive language and behavior? Language and behavior that candidate Obama has witnessed and sat through for years without comment? Could it be that that is what the press is looking for? And isn't it a legitimate point that many Americans may be concerned if that pattern exists at the church of this candidate?

You can rationalize it to yourself that it SHOULD make no difference, but there is a whole lot of other people out there to whom it might make a big difference. "Hoping" it won't matter probably isn't going to be enough.
