This is going to cause a stir... SD just not into your candidate
Edited on Fri May-30-08 11:51 AM by FLDem5
from the WP via DKos

I've spent the past several months talking to as many super-delegates as any reporter in America, I'd guess, since I cover on a day-to-day basis about 280 of them here on Capitol Hill.

I hate saying this, because all the Clinton people are going to flip out and say, You're biased, you're biased, you're biased. So go ahead and flip out if you want, but the simple basic truth is that the super-delegates stopped paying attention to the Clinton-Obama race about a couple days after the Indiana and North Carolina primaries.

They've stopped paying attention to the primary, and instead they're focused on an Obama-McCain matchup in November. That's the basic, simple, definitive reality that has happened in this race. The "undecided" super-delegates at this moment are not going to "decide" any time soon, because to them the race is over, they're just waiting for Clinton to drop out.

Demonstrating the unrivaled ability to not get the point that we've come to associate with Hillary supporters, another questioner demanded: Well, what about that Gallup poll showing Hillary doing better in the swing states, huh? What about that?

Kane sighed:

Again, don't yell at me because I'm only the messenger here. But the super-delegates have moved on, they're no longer looking at how Hillary Clinton fares in battleground states against McCain. This is very hard for Clinton supporters to hear, I'm sorry, but the super-delegates are not paying attention to your candidate anymore..

1. This doesn't make any sense.
If they've already crapped, why are they still on the pot?

4. They don't want to push her out before the final votes. It's appeasement.
In a word.

6. Two reasons....
1. They don't want to pre-empt the voters in the remaining contests
2. They don't want to alienate Clinton supporters by appearing to push her out of the race.

As there are so few contests and days remaining for the end, it makes sense for them to wait till it is over before moving en masse to Obama.

8. They would rather get past June 3 and then decide...
That way Hillary can gracefully exit saying she fought everywhere until the end and that everyones vote was counted. (minus FL and MI).

13. That's easy.
They still have done the "paper work"!

I think, as has been mentioned, that most of it has to do with not ticking of the Clintons. They will let the process go till next week, and if Hillary still has intentions of taking this to the convention, then I think they will step in and put a stop to that idea, or at least try their hardest. Once the primaries are over, it is going to be awful hard for Hillary to not bow out and start uniting the party. If she doesn't, then we all will know what her real intensions are, and that is simply to win at all costs, or make sure Obama can't win in November. Doing that will take the party down with her, and pretty much take care of any future she has in politics, my opinion of course!

19. Actually, her "help", may hurt more than help at this point..
All she really needs to do is to go back to the senate, and do her "work"... and to admit that she has had no REAL chance to win since MARCH 4th..

The less public she is for a while, the better..If she goes out "campaigning" for Barack, and does so in a wistful, whiny way, she'll be more of a detriment than a help..

She wanted it TOO much, and it showed. No one would believe that all of a sudden she "loves" the guy she harrangued & stalked for months.

The Dog-whistler & her buddy Bill, need to chill for a while, and maybe take a vacation..

5. Then they should just come out and endorse Obama.
There's no more reason to coddle HRC.

That could still happen after the FL/MI decision this weekend. I hope it does.

26. It's not about Hillary.
I believe it's more about public perception than anything. It's best if the process seems to end naturally with the final state voting. There seems to almost be a coordinated effort to make sure that Obama reaches the needed number with the final primaries.

25. We knew when Harry Reid said "it will be done" that they had a head count
When James Clybourne said he would declare next week, we knew they had a head count.

The SD decided to act like parents (I know parents-SD are not the best analogy but it does fit when thinking about the power differential) who ignore their children in the supermarket when they decide they are going to stress out on the floor and have a tantrum. These SD decided that they would keep shopping and eventually their children would realize they were making a spectacle of themselves.

I don't know what more these women can do to register their disgust that their candidate didn't win. If the SD pick Obama and Clinton can't win the nomination, what then can she do or they do on her behalf? Splitting the Democratic party and going to the Republicans does not seem effective because third party candidates have a more remote chance of winning than Hillary as the primary winner.

I guess they can do what Ferraro did and have a public meltdown that makes that tantrum in the supermarket look like child's play. She has made Fox News her home. She has gone on to write editorials. She has blamed Obama, black journalists, and white people who think Obama is a symbol. Where else can she go with this?
