used to point out that June was not particularly late in the primary process within the greater context of talking about why she was still in the race, Fr. Pfleger's sermon was merely using Hillary Clinton as a example of someone reacting emotionally to the denial of that which their white entitlement had made them feel was theirs.

1. This entire thing is just a distraction that may blow up in Hillary's face.
I don't like Hillary attacking one of my favorite priests.

18. I'm certainly glad you are the arbiter of what a man of god needs to
act like.

Christ was a violent radical, drove money lenders from the temple.

Much as you'd like, you can't put Jesus in a neat little sound bite.

Jesus beat the crap out of a couple usurers,

Peter was going to kill someone or die trying.

There could be a difference.

26. I could explain to you the significance of the moneychangers
And why the temple tax had to be paid in a particular currency, which the money-changers happened to keep in stock and sell for a premium ... but the details I'm sure would bore you.

As would the details of why Peter wanted to kill the Romans, the Sadducees, et al.

I don't pretend to know the mind of Christ except as revealed in the Scriptures. Neither should you.

And by the way - wasn't he executed because the Romans were afraid his radical views would cause an uprising??

Did he call the Romans racist??

29. Not really.
The Romans didn't really want to mess with him; too small-time. The Sadducees were the instigators, they went to the Romans and demanded it.

13. You have a consistent pattern of using ANYTHING, no matter how thin
to slime Obama.

Obama is NOT responsible for what any of those halfwits say.

No more responsible than you are for what I say.

And one more thing:

Look at the WORKS of Wright and Pfleger. You can link to their bad words but not their works, This speaks volumes about YOUR character, or lack thereof.

I understand enough about human beings to say you don't hold a candle to either of them in terms of helping communities with absolutely no hope whatsoever.

I went to a Baptist church where the Sunday school teacher talked about the best way to kill minorities with a knife.

I was 8 years old......

So: blow it out your self-serving flame-feeding ass, good buddy, the sooner you're gone the better this board will be for it.

have you looked at the works that church has accomplished outside, in the community??

Probably not. Conservative talking points and slime are basically all you're interested in.

I used to work with those same populations. I burned out after 5 years. To do it for a lifetime speaks of a love of humanity that goes beyond anything I can imagine.

And, yes it does breed rage towards the trivial pursuit that is the middle class here in the US.

Those preachers are really the ones that speak "truth to power", you speak like FOX.

Luckily the shed had a shingle roof, cuz when times were tight, the family could sup on all the tasty moss-covered shingles. And to keep warm, in the winter...

22. I'm posting in all these threads
Just to say I finally heard the Father's entire comment and I laughed, and laughed and laughed some more. I hope folks who found it funny and true are not suppressing their feelings for Hilly supporters on this site. What he said was true and funny. The faux outrage coming from some is beyond ridiciulous. As I said before these are the same people who claim Hilly is so damn strong yet she gets in a tizzy when someone mocks her. Seems she can dish it out but cannot take it. Imagine her and her supporters melt down if she were to win and the GOP got a hold of her. Geesh talk about Prozac. Free the Father! The good father had me cracking up! I'm Bill's wife, I'm white, I'm entitled. tell it father! If this is all they can dig up to smear Obama with then they are out of ideas, they are done, they are finished. I wonder why Fox News decided to cover this sermon all day and not once said anything about the Mccllelan book? Hmmmm.... Hill supporters helping out the right wing, what else is new.

24. sorry, but your comment is at least as ridiculous as Ferraro's
If a white person is entitled to the Presidency, then I should be President, because I am at least as white as Hillary. Or what about Dodd? Even his hair is white. Hillary's feeling of entitlement has nothing to do with the color of her skin. It had more to do with her leading in the polls since December of 2006.

of example that's your right, but to claim that the whole thing is about Hillary is as ludicrous as saying that Hillary's June comments were all about RFK

31. Exactly.

I finally saw it just a little while ago and laughed my ass off. I thought Fr. Pfleger was great... would love to hear some of his regular sermons if he uses the same style, even though I'm not a pew sitter.

Maybe he shouldn't be making anything that could be construed as political commentary in church; on the other hand, that particular church was rather rudely thrust into the national political arena, so I don't have a problem with the response.
