I want to congratulate a freeper for standing up to the hideous racism over there
To: All
Here’s a tip, guys. The “movin’ on up”, “Section 8” and faux ebonics comments are NOT as clever as you seem to think they are.

This is a seemingly nice 71 year old lady who has worked, along with her husband, raised a family and is now retired and helping out with the grandkids. Why on earth this should be fodder for racist scorn, I have no idea but it seems these threads bring the FR racists out of the woodwork.

Not cool. Not cool AT ALL.

This is from a thread packed with racist comments about Marion Robinson. Interesting to see several freepers standing up and calling the racist crap out. That's been rare over in the freeper cess pool.

1. It's the Meghan McCain Effect.
I know there are people here who want to dismiss her, but she is, if the GOP survives at all, the future of that party. I believe that the GOP is going to target moderates and centrists in the future, and dump all of that "hate" shit like a hot potato (or potatoe, if you're Dan Quayle). I think they're going to go back to their roots.

4. For every Meghan McCain...
...there are 20 young neo-nutcases amongst the ranks of college republicans

6. Yeah, but if they stick with "The Club," they'll learn to parrot her, even if they don't
completely mean it, particularly if it's the only way back to power. See, they want to replace those mouth-breathing Bible thumpers with cocky college graduates who refuse to believe that the world does not, in fact, owe them a living!

I've met some of these "new Republicans." They actually do exist. They call them "crunchy cons" and, unless you're talking politics or taxes, they're indistinguishable from Democrats. They drive hybird cars. They wear pricy clothes that give a percentage of their profits to the rainforest. You see them at the Major Appliance Recycling events, at the drop-off for food pantry donations, lugging their recycling to the curb, at the organic farmers' market, comparing produce, at the school committee meeting, pushing for --no, not Jesus--more math and science in the curriculum....it's a bit surprising.

They're not what you'd expect. My only point here is that laurel-resting is ill-advised. They've got nowhere to go but up, after all.

8. Is true, when you are at rock bottom there is no where to go but up.....but...

...these are republicans. When most people realize they should stop digging, republicans dig faster. Letting ideology think for you will do this to a person.

Right now the GOP is on an internal witch hunting phase. They are 'purifying' their ranks of all normal people. We shall see where it all goes. I just wish they would go away.

9. The normal people, though, are refusing to go--they're the ones who are saying
"This is our party, not yours." After the fight is over, if the "normal" people win, they are going to come after the people in the mushy middle--the centrists, moderates and independents.

2. I give him a week before they delete his account and he comes here...
... only to be tombstoned for being a non-racially-biased asshole.

3. Kind of like the jokes back in January about "another black family moving into public housing"
Keep it up folks. Keep it up. You guys are positioning yourselves perfectly for future elections. The American electorate gets just a little less white every day.

7. That's not even terribly original. The "public housing" theme originated with
Bill Clinton, who used the term himself about himself. He pointed out that he's lived in public housing for most of his career in politics, and that the WH was the nicest of all. He did it in that usual sef-depracating way that endears him, of course.

Vicious, and unoriginal. Which is the greater sin? Mean and stupid never win in the end!

5. About Marion??
I don't know if I even want to know. What could they possibly have said about her. The things that never occur to me - and then people wonder why I react so virulently at times. Who are these people?

10. Well, he'll be banned in short order.
They don't tolerate anything that isn't critical of Obama over there.
