4. I'm with you... Having watched this POS over the past 8 years he has been a loser...
for all of that time. I sure hope that this can be undone before we get to the 2010 elections.

3. "We've betrayed our own party values accepting him. We'll lose the seat to Ridge now."
Good grief, why not just go work for the RNC?

7. I don't think we will lose the seat to Ridge...
but Arlen isn't a Dem, he votes with the Repubs 70% of the time. Why should he win our primary, and if he does, why should we be excited about sending someone to DC who votes with Repubs 70% of the time?

8. So does Ben Nelson.
No one knows what will happen in 2010, but there is no need to hype Ridge.

10. I wouldn't consider that hyping.
I doubt the repubs could put up anyone that will beat any Dem at this time in PA. That is why I hope ARlen doesn't win our nomination, because he isn't one of us.

5. Repubs didn't want him; we will be that smart?
He isn't a Dem, he is someone who wants a senate seat in 2010.

Unfortunately, we in PA have a top-down approach to voting, meaning we vote for who the party bosses tell us to, and they will be telling us to vote for Spectre just like they did Hillary over Obama, and we will listen.

6. Ha! I see someone went for the fifth option.
Finally, someone with the balls to admit that the state of Pennsylvania simply lacks the traditions embodied by the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence!

9. Well I wouldn't say PA isn't part of the US.
But when the best their "Democratic" party can do is Ed Rendell, Bob AntiChoice Casey, and now Mr. Magic Bullshit himself, that's not a good reflection on the state.

14. We didn't choose him. He followed us home.
We really had no choice but to accept him. If he regularly votes for cloture, I will be quite pleased.

15. As a PAer who was excited before, I must say Specter is in self destruct mode lately
Specter's really in self destruct mode right now in terms of winning a primary, since he doesn't seem to really making much of an effort to change on any issues yet.

As a PAer I'm currently undecided about how I'll vote in a primary, I mean for one thing there is no liberal alternative to Specter who can win a general election. I mean as much as a bunch of people here want Sestak to challenge Specter, he's actually much more of a moderate then most people here think, and he's more conservative then you'd expect a democrat to be coming from a purple district like he does.

Another big thing that makes me undecided right now is all the talk that Ridge or Gerlach might run, we're in BIG trouble if Ridge is our opponent in the general election, Specter's the only one who could beat him. Against Gerlach Specter would probably cream him in a landslide, but I'm not so sure about our chances against Gerlach if we run someone other than Specter.

I'll heavily base my primary vote on who I think the GOP will be running against us in the general election, and who I think can beat them.

16. I think Spector isn't nearly as good in a general election as you think.
In fact, I think he's a horrible choice for the general election. He's a pure opportunist and everyone knows it.

17. I don't like self serving weasels
regardless of political affiliation. I can't stand Richardson and I can stand Specter even less. You can't ever trust a backstabber.

18. The only one with a choice, so far, has been Specter.
No one else had any choice in the matter. Now, come primary time, that's another ballgame, but it won't be for me to choose - that's up to the good folks of Pennsylvania, and I respect the decision they come to.
