Single Payer
For godsakes, do we have any common sense intelligence
any more inside our Congress? Let us choose to buy into an
affordable plan of Medicare. It works, it's in place
and would have enough of a pool that the costs
would be nominal.

Haven't corporations pretty much screwed this
country to date? Howabout working for us for
a change.

1. It's time to march. This summer. Let Congress know who's in charge.
The problem is they don't fear us. That must change.

3. The trouble is most of these pols are safe...
Districts have been so gerrymandered
for the safety of each party's incumbents
that to remove them takes everyone to
be so fed up with pols as usual.

I think if people did sit ins inside
their elected officials offices it
would help.

4. I like the idea of millions of people marching throughout the U.S.A. It's so visual.

5. Millions of PEOPLE marched to try to prevent war but military industrial complex $$ speak louder.
The same will be true for health care. Our politicians don't care about marches. In fact, I believe they love to see us waste our time, energy and resources doing some venting instead of spending our time, energy and resources getting them out of office for not listening to us.

The spigot of cash flowing from the insurance companies to the congress and executive is such a vast amount, there is no way in hell they will ever voluntarily turn it off just cause a few measly millions marched one day.

I'm sorry but I'm hugely cynical after years of marching against the Iraq War.

6. I don't think one march or one sit in will do it.... but
every time we write a letter to the editor about single payer, or enlighten a friend or co-worker about it, or call our congressperson, or march or stage a sit-in...it all helps. It's been working. When "Sicko" came out, most people - including me - knew very little about single payer. Seeing that movie opened my eyes. In just a few years there's been tremendous growth in the numbers of people who are in favor of single payer. We'll get there...but we have to keep pushing every day.

7. Different times, different administration...
Yeah, one march isn't enough. But it will be the catalyst that sparks a national conversation. The goal: 2010 elections, when a lot of congressional seats will be up for grabs. We need these SOBs to feel the heat.
