What is the definition of a "Democrat?"
What criteria do you use to define the Democratic Party?

Here are mine:

Civil Rights
Belief that the government has a role in maintaining social welfare within a capitalist economic system
More butter than guns
Belief in preserving the environment
Constitutionally, leans more Thomas Jefferson than John Adams

What are yours?

a staunch belief that a person is innocent until proven guilty......as opposed to
the Republican mantra heard these past few years : "SHOOT THEM ALL AND LET GOD SORT THEM OUT."

A Democrat would rather let 100 guilty men go free than let 1 innocent man stay in jail.

1. Someone who is a registered Democrat, who subscribes to most (but not necessarily all) of
the platform planks set forth by the DNC at our most recent convention.

It's a big tent. We're not all going to agree on every issue.

2. A person enrolled in one of the two major U.S. political parties.
Beyond that, it's rather elastic.

3. imo Democrats are interested in seeing the country live up to its potential...
...to live up to the promises of our Constitution with the wisdom and vision that will preserve and protect the nation and its natural resources for generations to come.

Unfortunately, Democrats in Congress and the WH don't always live up to my expectations. :)
