5. His employer denied him basic freedoms, do you need a whip to be unjust?
I understand there are differences but I meant to bring to our attention the similarities.

13. hmmmmm
So this man has benefited from white male privilege his whole life and now that he's facing ugly discrimination he's Dred Scott "to a degree"? There must be some sense of perspective. Yes it's a modern day civil rights battle, but don't compare him to a slave. It cheapens what slavery really was.

15. "bin Laden Determined to Strike U.S. Intelligence Capabilities" -- AP*
Edited on Wed May-20-09 01:17 AM by bleever
(*Almost Press-like.)

"The latest tape released by Osama bin Laden boasts of his plan to weaken U.S. intelligence -- and military -- capabilities by targeting vulnerable high-level officers.

"According to multiple sources, bin Laden's plan as laid out in the newly-released tape is based on taking advantage of the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy. By targeting and publicizing certain well-qualified officers and operatives, bin Laden and his network composed of donkeys and eight-track cassette technology have succeeded in striking a blow at one of the United States' most vulnerable spots: its ability to understand the communications of its declared enemies.

"Although it isn't clear whether or not it was bin Laden himself who orchestrated the campaign to exploit the U.S. policy quirk, what is clear is who hasn't benefited from the policy: the American taxpayers, who invested millions of dollars in training these people over many years, and who are now hoodwinked into forfeiting that investment by the clever actions of Al Qaeda's knowledge of United States political considerations."
