Maybe I should have gone to the White House: Pit bull bites Harrisons's son
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4199432

"PITTSBURGH -- A pit bull owned by Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison bit his 2-year-old son in the thigh, but the boy is expected to recover as he remained hospitalized Friday, the player's agent said.

Harrison's agent, William Parise, told The Associated Press that James III was bitten after his mother let the dog out of its pen Thursday afternoon. Parise wouldn't identify the woman, but said she and Harrison's massage therapist also were hurt trying to help the boy. The massage therapist needed three stitches, Parise said.

Parise said Harrison was not home at the time, but was nearby and alerted after the dog attacked. Parise has not spoken to the boy's doctors, but Harrison told the agent his son likely will be hospitalized another day or two.

Parise said the boy's injuries were "serious but certainly not life-threatening. I think any time a child is injured and requires hospitalization, it's a serious thing. I know James was very concerned about his son.""

On a serious note, I hope James Harrisons' kid is ok. Harrison got a lot of flack for his not going to the WH, so I'm sure he was already having a crappy week.

9. Why should he have? And why should he be judged for NOT going?
Last I checked, this was a moderately free country, with freedom of choice as to what photo ops one could choose to attend or decline.

3. The dog was apparently a "family pet".. I can't imagine why
people insist on having dangerous dogs & rambunctious toddlers at ther same time. Even small dogs & small kids have "entanglements" that often end at the ER, but having a dog like a pit bull, rottweiler, mastiff, etc is just asking for trouble.

4. The vast majority of bites, regardless of breed, are caused by un-neutered males.

I'll bet this dog is an un-neutered male.

5. As an un-neutered male, I feel I must stand up for my kind.
Sure we're a tad aggressive, and tend to pee all over the place, but we mean well.

8. and to small kids. Kids move fast, they grab pets..It's an accident waiting to happen
We had a small dog who bit our son,It was NOt the dog's "fault", but we gave the dog to my mother, and she lived out a long and happy life (19 years)..and when the boys were all older we got a Lab that was THEIR dog
