13. Nice article about her in the NYT today. She really fits the "empathy" theme.
I'm also thinking about Kim Wardlow whose mother is Hispanic.

Please no to Sonia Sotomayor. Her ruling on the 3 judge panel in the NH Firefighters case will be used by the RW to inflame the white and Hispanic population and it will be awful

Kagan might make it but I am thinking that a person with more of a Hispanic or black heritage would be better...

23. Another woman candidate! Wow, we have so many to choose from!
We could have an entire Supreme Court made up of all these diverse women. Hopefully, we won't hear "I want a woman but there aren't any qualified enough."
I'm happy if Obama only chooses women for the SCOTUS vacancies that come his way...

I think Prez O foreshadowed such when he concentrated on 'empathy' in interview with c-span, and suggested he'd prolly have time to do woman later. (I perceived that suggestion.)

Alaska Supreme Court chief justice Dana Fabe whose name has been put forward by Mark Begich. I've known Dana since 1977 when she was an assistant public defender. From that position she became chief public defender for the state, then a superior court judge, supreme court justice and then chief justice. She has a wonderful judicial temperament and definitely that "empathy" thing. Of course, she's below everyone's radar and probably doesn't stand a chance, but she would be an excellent choice.
