I am starting to think that Cheney will be the GOP nominee in 2012
He's won the war or at least he is in alliance with their true leader Rush Limbaugh. Rush is singing his praises. Palin, Steele and Jindal through their performances in the 2008 election, the 2009 political season and response to a state of the union address have ruined their national political careeers and are pretty much destroyed. Jeb Bush doesn't want to run I think. If he did he would have run for Florida senate in 2010.

2012 is also most likely going to be a year like 1996 and 1984 with a very strong president cruising to re-election. None of their "stars" will want to run. Cheney excites the base, is an effective speaker, has media allies and I think that the wing nuts will delude themselves into thinking that he has a good chance to win the election. Considering that those that vote in GOP primaries are right-wing lunatics, if Cheney runs, he wins the nomination. Also he looks in very good health and might be up for a run considering his history of heart trouble.

If he isn't considering being a player, why is he emerging as the leader of the GOP? Conceivably Bush is just afraid of going to jail as Cheney is over his war crimes but he's not speaking up in the same way. I think Cheney sees himself as the principal fighter agianst the democrats. Build up your case now to the base by aggresively opposing the president and you have them eating out of your hands in 2011/2012.

Also, if there is another 9/11 in the next 4 years, I can see the GOP turning to him even more.

Romney is mormon and freaky even to the base. They will never warm to him. He's the only other viable contender I can think of.

So Cheney V. Obama in 2012 and a historic landslide for the good guys. I'd love to see President Obama smack down "Dick".

Actually, I think Crashcart will suffer a massive coronary and croak before 2012. HIs health just doesn't seem that good. I'd love to see a Cheney/Palin ticket.

back to the future. Maybe his black, granite-like heart will give out before then, altho I doubt it.

9. Forgot about Gingrich
Gingrich could conceivably win it as well. Also back to Palin for a second, I can't believe I was ever even slightly intimidated by her. Her crash and burn which continues to this day is epic.

As far as Cheney, the reason I posted this is because he seemed to be at least a somewhat effective rebuttal to President Obama's torture speech on Thursday and it's been a long time since any GOPer has even been in the same ballpark as our president. He's the only one that hasn't looked like a fool taking on the president so far. Not substance wise but theatrics wise I mean, of course.

And LOL Cheney/Gingrich or Cheney/Palin would be hillarious.

Edited on Sun May-24-09 04:37 PM by GreenTea
(fuck the bullshit CNN poll) and Cheney associated with ALL of Bush/Cheney fuckups & financial bullshit...the man is hated...but I suppose there are always some who misinterpret everything and get fearful....Cheney could never become president. Just as Newt Gingrich could never be the nominee his time has looong passed, he's there like Cheney trying to be a hero and dent Obama, put their nominee, forget it....

Anybody tbut these two fucks in the republican party will do better and the republicans know it....Cheney is just so lost and can't make a dent in Obama, so they let Cheney lie and spew out bullshit, can't hurt too much the republican are near dead right now anyway. And they couldn't stop the evil idiot lying Cheney if they wanted to......

There's is no possible way in in hell Cheney could ever be the repug nominee...he would of ran last time if even the slightest of all slightest chances...no fucking way.....He's just an evil old hateful bastard sick and crazy living in another time and place and making the republicans look as crazy as he is....he's pathetic and there no way they could ever put this old fuck in a good light....he's burned and over done someone just needs to kick him in the teeth and bury him but there's always more communist fearful, world dominating neo-con republican corporate hopeful waiting in the wings for their turn.

Then they will be in total disarray trying to figure out who will replace him. And they will lose momentum at the same time.

He's got a lot of strikes against him. If it weren't for his "government run health care" he'd be long gone. His heart situation sounds pretty severe.

Oh I guess they could keep him alive a bit longer but he's really not a candidate for longevity according the insurance company's acutarial tables...

31. Cheney just wants the power, not the job title
Funny how we never heard from him during the Bush years and now he can't seem to keep his piehole shut. It's leading me to believe more and more that he was puppetmaster pulling the strings and Bush was a dummie. Cheney also never counted on Democrats taking back power so now he's making a desperate attempt cover his ass and/or keep us all scared and paranoid a la 2001.

36. I'm actually surprised- with as bigmouthed he has been since Obama took office
that he apparently chose NOT to run last year- Vice Presidents, particularly of two-term administrations usually are the "heir apparent" or natural successors. Although, of course, that's probably only likely with SUCCESSFUL administrations such as Reagan and Clinton. Cheney, if he had any inclination to run, surely realized that the GOP was doomed last year and that he was/is particularly despised. Besides, Bush/Cheney had probably made some kind of deal with McCain back in 2004 to support him as the 2008 nominee in exchange for McCain's support of them in that election. Part of what Cheney is doing right now appears to be burnishing the Buscho legacy, particularly in regards to their criminal activity, hoping that people will eventually forget about and/or come to "accept" what they did as "necessary to protect the country after 9/11". I tend to kind of doubt, however, that Cheney will run in 2012 for health reasons if nothing else. Unfortunately, I don't expect him to go away from the public sphere unless the corporate media whores wants him gone (the odds of which are practically nil)

I remember Cheney absolutely destroyed John Edwards by being a condescending jerk during their debate. But Obama knows how to lay the smack down on old, condescending jerks. He's already done it to McCain and he would do the same thing to Cheney. It would be priceless to see.
