Never fear, look here:
change

With all the outrage, one would get the impression that nothing has happened since January 20.

I'm not worried about Obama's presidency. I'm more worried about the lack of focus on holding the Bush administration accountable.

Maybe Obama's term(s) as President will be defined by a series of hearings to determine the legitimacy of his actions, but if Bush's actions aren't defined, how will anyone prevent another President from doing exactly what Bush did?

Jayne would be a Republican, tho. And you know Niska would be a NeoCon. Like Cheney & Rumsfeld, he loves his torture toys.

4. Rec'd~ Thanks, PS..
A ground swell will hold bush accountable.

Here's a website that is asking for sigs and calls to AG Holder to appoint an Independent Prosecutor..

"Call the Office of the Attorney General at (202) 353-1555. Then email the Justice Department using the form below."

Subject:

Your Letter:
Dear Attorney General Holder:

I demand accountability for torture. Based on the available evidence, it is clear that an investigation into the U.S. government's actions is warranted. I urge you to appoint an independent prosecutor to investigate who authorized and carried out the U.S. government's torture policies. If evidence emerges confirming criminal wrongdoing, the individuals responsible for it must face prosecution.

I commend the Justice Department for releasing the Office of Legal Counsel's memos authorizing waterboarding and other illegal "enhanced interrogation techniques." However, I am troubled by the Obama administration's indication that those who authorized and committed torture will not be prosecuted. America cannot move forward until we investigate human rights violations and ensure justice to restore America's credibility at home and abroad. No one is above the law.

Please appoint an independent prosecutor to investigate the U.S. government's illegal use of torture and restore America's standing as a paragon of human rights around the world.

Sincerely,
Eric Holder

7. Were members of the FDR administration tried for
the internment of Japanese Americans?

The purpose of a trial is not to determine the historical legacy of a politician. People who advocate a trial for that reason should really rethink their view of the criminal justice system.

8. This isn't 60 years ago, and the "they did it too" argument is BS. Here's another:

KRAUTHAMMER'S WEAK TORTURE DEFENSE....:

And second, the idea that torture is acceptable when officials believe a detainee has "high-value information likely to save lives" is a recipe for creating building-sized loopholes to laws prohibiting torture. Every government or terrorist network can justify all torture with such a ridiculous standard. The Japanese tortured in World War II because they thought they'd captured "a high-value enemy in possession of high-value information likely to save lives." Did that make it right? Did it stop us from labeling their conduct "war crimes"?

Let's deal with today, and the facts: The Bush administration committed war crimes

Edited for clarity.

10. So was LBJ. So was Nixon. So was Ford. etc etc etc.
Putting Bush on trial won't feed anyone. Or give anyone health care. Or remove carbon from our atmosphere.

Putting Bush on trial will not prevent feeding anyone or preclude health care reform.

Accountability isn't an either or proposition.
