I can not find Sotomayor's stance on gay marriage.
Does anyone here know where she stands on civil rights?

2. If that is the case, we will not be made privy to her position , at this time.

3. Sonce concervatives are not screaming about it, you may be right.
They seem to be mostly screaming about her abortion stance.

6. To which her answer almost undoubtedly will be
"I cannot comment on any position which I may have to rule on in upcoming cases."

8. But if she doesn't have an opinion
on the record they probably don't have anything to go on. And you can bet that any future responses to that question, unless something is found, will be and better damned well be. I can't comment on something that may in the future come up in my court.

10. define opinion?
you mean legal opinion or personal opinion?

Generally if something isn't out in the open it's hidden for a reason. doesn't matter - unless she eats live puppies for breakfast or has an undocumented migrant worker making pancakes and folding laundry she's in, regardless of what we want or think.

We can oppose her based on not having an opinion. She's not in the safe zone from MY opinion.

14. I meant legal,
If somebody overheard her in a restaurant opining on gay marriage it's probably not going to be much of an issue for the confirmation. It may be something for the chattering pundits and bloggers but that's going to be about it.

Of course somebody can oppose her based on her personal opinions but it would be nice if people understood them. A lot of shit is about to be said about her that is plain and simple bullshit. Note that moronic hit piece in the "liberal" New Republic by that POS Rosen. Take anything you hear without evidence with a grain of salt.

9. To my knowledge she's never ruled on gay marriage
I've been reviewing all of her noteworthy rulings this morning and there was no mention of one on gay marriage. As such, I doubt there would be anything on record regarding her stance on it.

11. According to the accidentally released RNC talking points,
Edited on Tue May-26-09 12:57 PM by jenmito
They're afraid of her "Imposing a federal constitutional right to same-sex marriage." I hope they're right.

13. Probably better that she doesn't have a public position on it.
That way she can't be bashed by the right if she is personally for it. She may have kep silent on the issue deliberately so as not to appear biased.
