I am not a huge Hillary Fan as some are,

But it occurs to me that most Secretaries of State do no serve too terms. It's a pretty grueling job. And it seems doubful to me that she would want to muster another presidntial run so late in her career, Not saying that she could not run at 67 or so I am just saying she most likely won't

It's entirely plausible that the Senat would be fillibuster proof by say 2012 (assuming AL Franken is seated by then) and it would likely be a great gambit to freeze the GOP as they head into the nezt election. They can't oppose without pising off women and they can's support her without pissing off the base.

What a great way to re-balance the court after Scalia or Thomas with a Clinton.

It's too political and she is a little older than what most people are looking for.

3. You think WalMart and Stephens Group don't have enough friends on the Supreme Court?
have you READ her actual resume as a lawyer or just her campaign bio's emphasis on her few but more charitable contributions??

It's for judges.
She's not, and never has been a judge...

Edited on Wed May-27-09 05:17 PM by Raine1967
to serve on the Supreme Court, correct? Maybe not, so I am telling you, Hillary could be a Supreme Court Judge,

All she needs is a nomination, and an acceptance. The latter I believe she said she does not want.

Let me make this clear -- you do not have to be a judge to serve on the Supreme court.

14. You don't even have to be an ATTORNEY to sit on the USSC.
You just have to be nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate.

22. Two of the 4 finalists on Obama's list
weren't judges (Elena Kagan and Janet Napolitano). There were other people considered who have never been judges (Jennifer Granholm). It's not a requirement.

5. Too Old.
Avoiding other reasons she wouldn't be the best choice.. Obama would do better to pick someone a bit younger who will "last" a little bit longer. He's going to aim for people in the 50 - 55 age range if possible... it maximizes their time on the bench, paying more dividens long after he's out of office.

23. I don't think being political is an issue
Obama considered Jennifer Granholm and she's political too. But I agree...it's doubt that Hillary will end up on the Supreme Court. I don't think she will run for president either.

11. I've heard
from sources in DC (hey, I have sources) that Scalia wants to hang it up. He has an agenda he wants to push and he finds the court very confining. He'd rather teach and write -- neither of which he can do as a justice -- in order to recruit a whole new crop of Federalist Society fascists.

18. I'm surprised but happy to hear that.
I've assumed that all the wingnuts would hang on as tenaciously as Stevens has. OTOH, if one of the conservatives retires and the balance shifts, the whiney-assed fascists won't be happy writing minority manifestos.

32. If he wants to do other things, he's running out of time...
He'll be 80 if he waits out Obama's second term. But another Democrat could win after Obama. And given the state of the GOP, it wouldn't be too surprising if that happened.

There are plenty of world leaders (including women) who have successfully lead their nations and who were even older than Hillary would be in 2016.

She was already bashed by plenty in the MSM just for being a woman. Remember the cracks about her voice (shrill), laughter (cackle), etc.

The vultures in the media can go to hell as far as I'm concerned.
