All are saying that it is self-destructive for the Republican party to call her a racist. Pretty rare.

1. No Traction!
After two days of trial balloons that sought to torpedo the nomination, the Republicans looked around and discovered that they were between the rock and the hard place. Now the Republicans will try to escape their boisterous remarks and limp away with their pride intact.

6. and, in a few days, they'll be trying to rewrite history and say that it was the Dems/Libs
who were making these nasty statements about the new justice ...

2. even they know it's a lost cause
Though Joe doesn't know what he's talking about as usual...a couple days ago, he was saying Sotomayor was "way out on the left". And his "jokes" this morning about Durbin making Burris go to the back of the bus were stupid.

5. well

This ought to make folks here feel good. Joe Scarborough's "gut" told him that, looking over all of the Supreme Court potential nominees that were up for the Obama appointment, Sotomayor would be THE most progressive if appointed. And he claims that all people on the Supreme Court, except for the die hard conservatives, tact left. Whatever you say, Joe.

9. Even though I'm glad he's saying this, as it serves well for the hearings and confirmation
I have little doubt that this tepid endorsement from Joe is less about Sotomayor and more about Joe.

He's still fairly young and I'm sure his ego hasn't fully let go of some political ambitions -- and if he's still got 'em, he'd be running in Florida. He's just not wanting the bite the hand that one day might feed him again.

So, I think this was more of Joe serving Joe than actually being open-minded and fair about President Obama's pick.

7. No kidding. They are just realizing that?
They just woke up this morning to the demographic reality of the Hispanic vote on their Party's chances in the 2010 Congressional elections? How dumb is that?

I tuned in to MJ first thing this morning because I was curious as to how this nomination process would twist and turn. And wow, overnight here it is!
