So what's up with Arizona?

I've been posting in the Az forum for awhile now and I notice that hundreds of people will view a post but no body ever responds. At first, I figured that I was just not posting anything that anybody cared about but I see a number of posts by others that should have gotten some input and nobody has anything to say.

Well, tonight I'm bored and have some time on my hands so I'm going to try something different just to see if I can actually get some input from Arizona.

I moved to Tucson from a lifetime in the S.F. Bay area in December.
I'm slowly getting into the whole "Southwest" thing. I bought a couple of Western style belts, some Tourquoise jewelery and a Stetson hat that I love. It occured to me that I probably need some Country Western music on my i-pod to play while driving around. I have never been a "Country Western" kind of guy. After disco, I tended more toward Classical and, being a guitar player, I got into Flamenco, which, in my opinion is the highest and most complicated form of the guitar arts but, driving through the desert, CW just seems to feel right so I decided to aquire some CW music to play while driving through the cacti. Problem is, I don't know shit about CW. I started with what I consider the pinnical of CW and bought some Patsy Clien. Then some Dixie Chicks and the Dolly Parton Trio album. Past that, I hav'nt got a clue so, Arizona, what CW music should be on my must have list?

I could have asked this question in the lounge and, no doubt, would have gotten a plethora of answers but I ask it here just to see if anybody in Az. is awake.

To be fair, I accidently clicked on the Arkansas forum and I see topics with almost 3,000 views and no response so maybe it's just a state forum kind of thing but I fugured I would give it one more try.

Also, the wife and I are going to Sedona for a few days just cause. Anything we should not miss?

but you should definitely listen to Stereolab (they have absolutely nothing to do with country music)

Try a little Linda Ronstadt for some homegrown Arizona and traditional Mariachi sounds. And for driving-through-the-desert music, I've found that Bluegrass is hard to beat.

We have not made it to Old Tucson yet but We started watching movies that were made there (at least the ones we can find on Netflix) in chronological order starting with a Gene Autry movie from 1947. What a kick! They just don't make em like that anymore.

In Sedona be sure to check out the Slide Rock area.

After you've taken the requisite pictures of the mountains all you are left with is expensive jewelery, cheap t-shirts and overpriced restraunts. We drove through Jerome on our way to Prescott and OMG we are so going back. We are in Prescott now which we have also fallen in love with. What a great town. Much more interesting than Sedona and about 1/3 of the cost for just about everything. Home tomorrow.

Take a day trip down to Bisbee. No better way to wile away an afternoon than sitting on the patio of the Copper Queen Hotel sipping a cold one from the Old Bisbee Brewing Company......

rich senior citizens and tourists, it is best if you do go to arrive on a weekday in the middle of the week.

If you want to escape the tourist trap of Sedona visit Jerome, its a nice small community only 20 minutes or so away and its an old mountain mining ghost town that has been taken over my musicians and artisans and hippy's since the 80's...I love Jerome!

We drove through on our way to Prescott and were just blown away! I can't thiink of any place I've been on this planet that compares to Jerome. It's like Sausilito, but not! We will definitly go back there. What a unique place!
