KPIX's Doug Murphy dead
Died in a fire in his home in Lafayette. That's it from KPIX/CBS 5 -- hasn't hit Google News yet.

LAFAYETTE (KRON) -- Longtime Bay Area television personality Doug Murphy is dead following a fire Sunday in his Lafayette home.

Murphy spent more than 20 years as a news and sports anchor and reporter for KPIX-TV. He took a leave of absence for health reasons earlier this year.

Firefighters say it appears the blaze began in the attic of Murphy's home on south Peardale Drive. Neighbors tried to get inside the home to rescue the residents but could not get beyond the front door.

Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire.

I hate to admit that I didn't realize who they were talking about when I was watching the news last night

think it was Channel 7--ABC

it's been a while since I've watched Channel 5

Although I haven't lived in the bay area in years I remember him well.

Rip Murph. My thoughts are with his family.

Here is a photo of him from a Sacramento station...
