Yes on 8 folks badgered me today!
I was walking back from a small Obama function and there were Yes on 8 people on all four corners of the street. They saw my Obama garb - two of them sneered at me, one said "oh she probably won't vote yes" and then one elderly woman gave me a rude look (probably because I had seen her the other day as well and she smiled at me then when I wasn't wearing Obama stuff). When I crossed the street, one said "Obama is all for Prop 8" and he had a sign that said "all candidates support traditional marriage" with all four pictures on it. I just replied that actually Obama/Biden don't support Prop 8 and that the sign is misleading. He just said "oh, well vote for it anyway." I said "I don't think so" and continued walking so as to not get angry.

Unfortunately, many cars were honking their support. And unfortunately, as I have noted before, there is no reason to think Prop 8 will lose considering less than half of the state is registered Democratic (though this may have gone up this year), many of those will vote yes on 8, and others won't vote on that measure. However, the religious zealots will be out in droves just like in 2000 with Prop 22 and they have been pretty successful so far with their fear campaign ("vote yes on 8 or your five year old will be told to be gay").

1. I was in Torrance on Saturday and they were 4 - 5 on each
corner.

Waving the signs and going crazy!

NO on 8!

I am Christian and I have talked to people that I couldn't believe would vote YES and one told me, " the Bible is not for it."
" Jesus would want us to vote YES."

I tried to reason with this woman and she was not bending.

The NAACP and most of our state Representatives are endorsing a NO!

The NAACP flyer said something like, " Don't do to others what we fought so long for to erase."

NO on 8

2. They are out on the overpass this morning, by my son's school
I saw them setting up when I drove him up to school, and driving back they were standing along the overpass, with their "Yes on 8" signs, and signs that said "8 = Parental Rights" and similar nonsense. I wanted to flip them off but instead I just gave them a thumbs down. I know they saw me, there were only about 5 of them.

Ugh, they really piss me off! There are about an equal number of Yes/No on 8 signs on houses in my area, though I'm confident it will be defeated in this county anyway.

I want 8 to fall almost as much as I want Obama to win. This one really pisses me off. Lies, lies, more lies and discrimination.

3. I've been talking with people about it and most are for it.

I've tried to explain that if an underage teen wants an abortion, not much will stop her, and many, way too many WILL NOT want their parents to know.

Having been a teenage girl myself once, I know if I were in that situation, I would have risked death rather than tell my parents.

I'm amazed, but it doesn't look at all good for a NO on 4.

6. Yes, he is against it
He thinks the California constitution shouldn't be changed for frivolous matters like who should be allowed to marry who. Being a Hollywood guy (and maybe being European?), he's fairly liberal socially.
