Who should replace Senator Feinstein?

My vote is for Rep. Bob Filner.

Filner was the only white male in Congress to stand with the CBC to protest the Florida fraud in 2000.

Filner voted aye on the CBC's call to investigate the 2004 fraud.

Filner has a perfect progressive record and is hugely popular here in San Diego.

Does he have the backing and the ability to raise the money for a successful Senatorial race? I doubt it.

But I suspect it could be done anyway. I wish he'd been included in F9/11. Some creative publicity might do the trick.

Christine Kehoe is pretty good also. But Filner's my first choice.

4. Danny Glover
We need a high profile celeb activist to block an Arnold campaign for that seat.

2. Please don't choose Loretta Sanchez
A real opportunist who has yet to prove her worth as a Democrat. Her sister Linda, on the other hand, at least have some track record as a union activist, I think.

Here is a comment from the Orange County Weekly:

Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez continued another year of serving the rich while ignoring the pleas of her heavily immigrant district by publicly supporting a controversial Anaheim INS-police partnership started by notorious Anaheim cop Harald Martin.

3. If there's a Democratic candidate that can take over from Bob -
Edited on Sat Jan-15-05 01:35 PM by haele
so that we can keep at least one democratic district in San Diego County, I'd back him wholeheartedly. I'm pretty sure that Filner can carry the borderline 'pubs as well as the party.
Kehoe would definatly be an acceptable candidate to Feinstein amongst other Democrats, but you just know the 'pubs will run her personal life against her. I don't know that the "party" whusses would be willing to run Christine on a state wide level - which is cowardly on their part, but then - political party heads would rather run a qualified suit their focus groups will tell them is "a sure thing" than run with someone who is both dedicated and qualified but may have "a few quirks" that can be used against them by the opposition.

6. I think Filner could probably name his replacement.

I, for one, would vote for anyone he recommended, sight unseen.

5. Dario Frommer - he spoke at a meet-up here last fall
He is in the State Assembly. He was articulate, intelligent and told great arnold stories.

I'm not even sure where he is from but I thought as he was speaking that he has a bright future.

Can I mention that he is also easy on the eyes...hey, it couldn't hurt!

Whoever it is- Feinstein has GOT TO GO!

7. Feinstein has GOT TO GO!

Thanks, Beaver. I think that's the message we should bombard our local Democratic Clubs with constantly, so that they can pass the message on up. From now until her term is up, I intend to slip that phrase into every conversation, every email, and keep pounding until it sinks in. Feinstein has GOT TO GO!

8. Now here is an instance where cloning is needed --
-- and I think it's Senator Boxer who should be cloned.

We could use two of her, no problem. She's shown clarity and courage against the Bush machine, while Dianne Feinstein is busy bootlicking for Condi Rice.

I'm serious here -- how about George Clooney?

13. So, what's the first step in getting rid of her?
She needs an opponent in the primary, right?

God, I'm sick of sell-out Dems. We are so lucky to have Boxer, but all the Dems should be following her lead. Boxer has called attention to herself, so I'm a little worried about her. Others need to stand up so she isn't so much of a target. That's one reason Feinstein's "Republican Lite" stance infuriates me so much!!!
