What is it with the increase in cars and trucks on the road having no license plates and no way to trace their vehicle?
Seems to be that could be a hit and run invitation, not to mention whatever else that comes with being a free agent car. It seems to make for a crime extravaganza.
I actually spoke to someone who had been parking his van in the neighborhood for months. I saw him and approached him as he was getting into the van and asked him politely why he had no plates.
The car had been without plates for months. His response was a little interesting. He got rather nervous and defensive and showed me some papers that were in his car.
I assured him I wasnt out to interrogate him, however, I mentioned Id seen his car and knew he was not a neighbor and the van had had no plates for a long time. (I am beginning to sound like Gladys Kravitz and that is VERY uncool)
I should add it was great to see his vehicle papers, and it was nice that he had them (I guess), but if the person driving the car has no intention of stopping or getting out of his car, or for that matter, letting you see the vehicle information, what good are the papers when you have no chance of seeing them?
Thats my question.
I dont get it, and its been bothering me, especially to see the number of plateless cars driving around town.
So, is it against the law to buzz around California free and easy, minus any license plates, and if so, why are we allowing it?
