Kerry Fundraiser in Los Angeles, Saturday, May 22

My grassroots organization, Lawyers for Kerry, is co-sponsoring a FANTASTIC fundraiser on Saturday, May 22, in Los Angeles. Thanks to the incredibly hard work of our other co-sponsors, African-American Women for Peace and Justice, California Women for Kerry, and African-Americans for Kerry, we have a great lineup of guests and speakers, including "First Daughter" Alex Kerry, Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones, investigative journalist and author Greg Palast ("The Best Democracy Money Can Buy"), Whoopi Goldberg, Laurence Fishburne, Vivica Fox, LeVar Burton, Anjelica Huston, Robert Guillaume, Lindsay Wagner, Forest Whitaker, and many, many more!

The contribution amounts are $250 for the general reception at 6:00 PM, and $500/$1,000 for the VIP receptions at 5:00 PM.

Please note that as this is a fundraiser for "Kerry Victory 2004," a joint fundraising committee authorized by the DNC and John Kerry for President, the contribution limit is $25,000, so even if you’ve already maxed out your $2,000 for John Kerry directly, you can still contribute to and attend this fundraiser. (If you've also maxed out your $25,000 to the DNC, however, I believe you're stuck. But if you've already done that much, I will certainly check about getting you in for free!)

In my opinion, events like these are really what being a Democrat is all about: multiculturalism, coalition-building, unity and empowerment. This fundraiser was organized by the grassroots, by people just like us. So let's show our support for our Democratic communities and consituencies so that we can "Lift Ev'ry Vote" and help boost John Kerry to the White House in November!

No Democrats I know could spring it. I suppose this is for the "liberal elite"..... just kidding. I suppose the liberal rich should also be able to have a good time supporting a Democratic candidate.

The only problem I have is how come I don't know anyone who could go to that event? I must be travelling in some impoverished circles or something....
