Senate approves bill banning gun shows at Cow Palace

The Associated Press

SACRAMENTO (AP) - The state Senate approved a bill Wednesday that would prohibit gun shows at the state-owned Cow Palace in San Francisco.

snip...
This is about communities surrounding the Cow Palace that are deeply concerned about access to guns," Speier said. "They don't want the Cow Palace to have gun shows. ... We have to respect local communities."

Sen. Bill Morrow said it was hypocritical for state lawmakers to ban gun shows, but not other types of shows that could have an influence on the community - namely the annual Exotic Erotic Ball held at the Cow Palace each October.

The ball is "infamous for its display of human sexuality," said Morrow, R-Oceanside, including pornographers and "live sex acts."

1. I have to admit Morrow has a point
But I'm going to have to go to the Exotic Erotic Ball and see for myself first. ;)

2. I don't understand what they think this is going to accomplish
Gun shows will move to friendlier venues. Meanwhile, guns will continue to be just as available in San Francisco and the state as a whole.

There is no "gun show loophole" for gun sales in California. All sales of modern firearms, new and used, have the same requirements for identification, paperwork, background checks, and a 10-day waiting period.
