Fellow Floridians- Help Boot Bilirakis
Hi everyone,

I need big help fast. I filed to run for Congress in the 9th District at the end of February, and came up just short of the required 4,200 petitions to get on the ballot. Now I've got to raise $9,300 by Thursday to pay the filing fee. The deadline is noon on Friday.

Bilirakis has been in there for 22 years, and has already willed the seat to his son Gus. Mike Bilirakis chairs the committee that gave us the Medicare Law, and votes exactly how Tom DeLay tells him. He has a war chest full of $5,000 checks from the Pharmaceutical, Health Care, Chemical, and Energy PACs. Even the Wal-Mart PAC.

If I don't get on the ballot, he can run unopposed and spread his money around the country to close races.

I need your support.

Thanks,
Rick Chapman www.rickchapmanforcongress.com

4. I have a question...
I am not a member of the Democratic Party, but am just wondering how it works when one decides to run for Congress. Does the DNC or state party offer any financial assistance? If not, do they aid in helping find backers for a Congressional campaign or is the candidate basically on his or her own? What about in cases where the Democratic nomination would be uncontested? It's not good when there are two House districts next to each other (the 5th and 9th) where the two incumbents will run unopposed, when, with some work, they could probably be picked off.
