2. we need a constitutional amendment to have bipartisan redistricting

their districts are gerrymandered in such a way that there's no way we can win those seats. After all the effort and money that Harry Jacobs and Wayne Hogan put into their 2002 challenges, to still lose as badly as they lost... who is going to run? Why would anyone want to go through that?

It sucks, yes, but better the party put its efforts into seats we might be able to win, like the one that Karen Thurmond lost to Ginny Brown Waite last time and Alan Boyd's seat which is under attack.

I am really upset that the FDP has deprived me of an alternative. What am I supposed to do in November? Vote for the fruitcake or write in myself?

6. There will be no Democrat on the Ballot

I would have been glad to volunteer and contribute and vote for anyone opposed to Feeney. I was assured that the Party would put up someone even though it is considered a Republican district and was hand drawn by Mr. Feeney himself. We have a lot of conservatives but many of them are right now disgusted with the Republican party. Any moderate Democrat might have swept them up.

I know a guy named Mike Emmons was trying to run against Mica.

The thing is, they either have to get 9,000 signatures or pay $8,000
(I think those numbers are correct). And the signatures have to be from the district the candidate would represent. I believe Mr. Emmons was out of work and had a family, so he didn't have the money. And in such a Republican area, it is hard to get those signatures. And the deadline for signatures passed.

I wonder if Steven Murray got enough to run against Ric Keller/

somebody ought to be able to defeat Keller, though -- adulterous blowhard buffoon that he is.

Mica is actually the least awful of the three, IMO (I group them together because they each represent some part of my county, along with Corrine Brown).
