Question about 48-hour detention
And this isn't just for Floridians.

Can the police place you in custody for 48 hours without arresting you?

5. Baker Act
In Florida there is a Law named the Baker Act. Google "Florida Baker Act" and you will get more information than you ever wanted.

6. Longer Than That
I was held past my release date in Holmes County Florida a lot longer than 48 hours. Jail Administrator Harry Hamilton and Deputy Administrator Bennie Chesnut held me past my release date even after being presented with a sign copy of the sentencing order. I lost a good job and had to wait to be reunited with my family due to thier judge and jury attitude.
