I'm being lazy and not posting any of the piece - feel free to cut and paste the parts you feel are important to be read.

1. Read it yesterday
Big surprise. All three repubs back the war.

2. This bothers me.
Still, Dickinson rejects a timetable for withdrawal.

“A publicized timetable in a war puts our troops at risk,” he said, calling the situation a catch-22 in that a sizeable American troops presence is necessary to “get the job done,” but that it also can be portrayed by insurgents as an occupation.

3. Dickinson keeps moving to the center, THAT bothers me
He made a comment at our last Central Committee meeting about the primary that bothered me as well.

Last cycle Denny Heath lost the primary and decided to run as an Independent - didn't matter, he didn't do well and wasn't the reason for Gluba's loss. It was asked of Dickinson/Gluba/Braley to pledge to NOT run as an I if they lose the primary - they all agreed.

However, with three decent candidates running in this primary, there is the potential of the primary heading to District Convention for a final decision (I think the winner has to have at least 35% of the vote to avoid a special convention being convened, someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Dickinson said that there should be no question that the highest vote getter in the primary should automatically win at convention. In all probability that will occur, but I don't think it should be up to a candidate to try and circumvent the democratic process. He stated monkey business at District Convention will mess up the general election. (although I agree with that sentiment, it's the campaign's responsibility to ensure that they have the most support not only with the voting public, but with the convention delegates).

That and his continued hammering on prior service in elected office being a prerequisite to being elected to Congress and his lack of support of Labor are getting under my skin.

4. Yeah.
For someone that doesn't know a TON about any of the candidates, seeing Dickinson's positions written out in standard Republican talking points is a bit disturbing.

If I hear "cut and run" I am going to really freak out.
