Boy Grassley sure is slow with a response.
I emailed both he and Harkin expressing concern about Judge John Roberts' nomination as Supreme Court Chief Justice and I finally recieved a response from Grassley yesterday. He said that he voted in favor of Roberts (no shit) and the reason he gave was the standard, "I believe that he possesses the knowledge and respect for the Constitution that is necessary for all SDupreme Court Justices." Ok, I suppose he has his own opinion, but wouldn't it have been nice to at least get a response before December 20? Maybe he's just too old. Or maybe he forgot about a registered Democrat out here in Davenport. Btw, Harkin got back to me within a couple of days after I emailed him. At least one Iowa Senator cares enough to contact his constituents.

1. Harkin's staff ROCKS
For lack of a better term.

We wrote him regarding a question from our landlord (for our office) and his staff actually called us to discuss the problem (this was right before Thanksgiving) and today we received a letter stating the problem had been resolved. Three weeks, that's great work!

Grassley's still trying to figure out how to hook three snow blowers together so he can get to that overdue lawn mowin.....

2. I don't think Grassley knows how to use email
I used his website to email something about Iraq and I get a letter in the mail about 3 months later. I hardly remembered why I wrote him in the first place.

3. I think it is purposefully done that way
Responding so late can only do one thing: bring the conversation to a close.

6. Snark! That's good
Do you think Iran is where we are headed? I thought Syria was in the administrations sites.

We must be careful now, these posts could be intercepted.....:scared:

7. Syria and Iran!
Last night I saw the tail end of a story about a "secret deal" between Iran and Syria that would allow Iran to stash nuclear weapons in Syria and allow Syria to hide guilty intelligence operatives (those linked to the assasination of the PM of Lebanon).

I havent had much of a chance to follow up on that, but that can't be good.

8. Surprised Syria would have room to house Iran's nukes
since they are already stuffed with Iraq's WMDs.
Interestingly, since Iran and Iraq have signed mutual defense treaty, if we invade Iran then by treaty Iraq must declare war on us. This would finally fulfill one of Bush's reasons for starting this war - that Iraq was after us
