Candidate Nussle runs afoul of parade officials
Doesn't look like this has been posted here yet...

MASON CITY — Gubernatorial candidate Jim Nussle’s staff apparently knowingly violated North Iowa Band Festival rules by having a campaign sign on his car in the annual parade Saturday, a Chamber of Commerce official said Thursday.

The Band Festival allows elected officials to walk or ride in the parade but prohibits campaigning.

Nussle had a car in the parade. When Band Festival officials checked the car before the parade started, it was in compliance. When the parade started, someone had switched it for a sign that said “Jim Nussle/Governor,” according to parade volunteers.

What an ass. I don't even care about the parade that much, but this just make me angry. Basically just demonstrates the kind of people republicans are. No matter how minor the event, they still only think about themselves, and don't give a shit about rules or traditions or any of the other garbage they always talk about.

1. He's a Republican...
He's probably used to getting away with breaking the rules.

I only wish he was able to get sued or arrested for it...

2. It's one thing to be ignorant of the rules, but his campaign broke the
rules on purpose - waiting for parade officials to look the other way.

If Nussle wanted to walk in the parade as a candidate he should have declined the invite to ride as an elected official (hell, he doesn't represent Mason City anymore ANYWAY) and requested to be allowed to walk w/the Cerro Gordo County republicans. (That's what he did here in Waterloo Friday night).

Instead his campaign pocketed the entrance fee they no longer had to pay and switched signs at the last minute -AFTER parade officials had cleared Nussle's vehicle.

What a jerk.
