AAR coming to KXIC in Iowa City
Beginning Monday June 12. Only Randi at night and Hartmann on the weekend, but it is a start. Help us shoot those ratings through the roof: (thanks to all who have helped with this especially Maggie and Cornfield)

AIR AMERICA

Two lineup changes at AM-800 KXIC will bring the progressive political talk radio of the Air America network to eastern Iowa listeners for the first time.

The Randi Rhodes Show will debut on KXIC on Monday, June 12, and run weekdays from 5 to 9 p.m.

The Best of the Thom Hartmann Show will be broadcast every Sunday morning from 9 a.m. to noon.

Rhodes is one of the nation’s first female political talk show hosts. She has won the American Women in Radio and Television award for Best Entertainment Programming.

The Brooklyn, N.Y., native served in the Air Force from 1977-81 before beginning her radio career in 1992.

Hartmann, an internationally known author and speaker on culture and communications, was named one of the "Top Ten New Voices in Talk Radio" in 2004 by Radio Ink.

He is also world-renowned for his work in helping set up hospitals, famine relief programs, schools and communities for orphans and blind children in Australia, Colombia, India, Uganda and the United States.

4. Great news for you all out there
Heck, I may even listen to Randi sometimes myself and Hartmann too, as Sunday mornings are slow around here. Do they still do Cub games on that station? If so, Randi will get preempted a lot in the next couple of months. But it's a start. Maybe they will put Malloy on. Now that would be great!

6. Yep, they do Cub games in the summer and Hawkeye bball in
the winter, along with other Iowa sports call-ins etc. so I am sure pre-emption will be a problem. I am hoping this is only a start. That is if ClearChannel management realizes they have a winner on their hands they will go with more progressive programming.
Therefore you will see an occassional post asking for people to call the station and thank them. And more importantly we will ask folks to be sure to buy at sponsors of the Randi show and Thom's show and let them know why you are shopping there.
