Hello Iowa DUers!!!
Now that the primaries are over and we are all focused on November I thought it would be cool to check in and say hello (kind of like roll call!) Where are you from and what races will you be working on ???

I'll start:

Debi from Cedar Falls (Black Hawk County)

I'll be working for Bruce Braley in Iowa's First District

And Chet Culver for Governor (surprise)

I'm sure I'll be involved in my local statehouse race as well as the Board of Supervisor's race as well. (Should keep me busy this summer!)

Next....

2. You have "Most Important DUer" status with your post on the
State Central Committee. Can't wait to hear your report from the State Convention on 2006 election plans :bounce:

4. Braley
Before school starts and I leave the state, I'll volunteer for Braley in Waterloo. I might venture over to Iverson's district and help out some friends with the Rich Olive for Senate campaign, as well as go to Cedar Rapids and help out Rob Hogg.

3. Hi folks...
I come from Council Bluffs and go to school in Iowa City.

I will be supporting (from a distance) JOYCE SCHULTE for Congress -- www.schulteforcongress.com

Also, I'll be volunteering for Chet Culver, as well as probably for Dave Loebsack.

GO DEMS!

13. That just pisses me off
We all sat her on June 5th and talked about how we'd support the winner of the primaries. Now people want to piss and moan because their candidate didn't win so they're gonna support the Independent or just not vote for the Democrat. Shove off is all I can think to say (My husband is the diplomat). You don't see me saying I'm voting for Northey because Terry didn't win. Denise O'Brien has my vote because I want a Democrat in office. Just pisses me off :grr:

11. Well, that's the way to ensure a republican victory
suck it up and get to work for D's up and down the ticket. Otherwise head over to the Free Republic and join in the trial-lawyer bashing. :puke: Your post is just bullshit and of no help to any Democrat.

Chet Culver has my support as does Pam Jochum and all other local races. Im excited because hopefully Gluba runs as an independent I would work for him over the other guy any day.

9. Huh?
Is that a joke? I see your 'No' at that the end there, and I am hoping you meant 'Not'. Helping Gluba spoil a race that is the Democrats for the taking is foolish, selfish, and won't earn you many friends here at DU.

:P

Even in 2002 I voted for the Democratic nominee in the First District - and that was a bitter pill to swallow :bounce:

Nice to hear from you ;)

I did vote for Nader in 2000.

(Credit where due: I wasn't a Dem then, either.)

12. Not working for Braley promises to help Nussle in the Governor's race
a party divided is just that and cannot move forward to success. Dickinson swallowed his pride and has endorsed Braley, you need to get off your high horse and get to work for him as well.

Supporting Gluba in an Independent bid is just as bad as voting republican.

You are a sad, sorry case. Get over yourself.

18. Ok I voted for Gluba in the primary
Edited on Fri Jun-09-06 06:26 PM by Bluzmann57
He lost and needs to get on with his life. I already emailed him and told him I have withdrawn any and all support for him if he makes a run as an independent. This seat is too important for a childish thing like Gluba is pulling. In fact, I may not allow him to show me houses either (He's a real estate agent). For a grown man, he seems childish to me. It is very doubtful that any Scott County Dems will support him. So he needs to give it up and lend his support to Braley. Incidentally, are you a Quad Citian? If so, PM me and we'll talk.

21. Bluzmann, I've already thanked you for your classiness
And you really do well. I hope you'll be part of the process of getting Scott County organized to vote Democratic this fall.

Doesn't matter who we supported in the primary - we all need to vote D!! D!! D!! in the general :bounce:

Have a great weekend. d.

19. #1 Clara Oleson in Iowa house district 79 (get rid of Kaufmann)
That is top priority. Clara is a retired labor lawyer and educator who came out of retirement to battle a disease we call Kaufmann. It takes a lot of guts to put the mantle of 'work' back on at age 64.
#2 Loebsack, Loebsack, Loebsack. We just gotta get rid of Leach. Jesus, I ain't been represented for 30 years.
#3 Nate Reichert in Ia. House 80. Nate is the first Democrat to win in Muscatine county in 45 years. And we need him to repeat. He's a very fine, straight shooting young man with a great future.
#4 Chet,Chet, Chet. I figure working hard on the lower races will just bubble up to the governor's campaign. I am sure one common theme will be that if we want Iowa to move ahead, we need a Dem legislature AND governor!

23. Hello from Marshalltown
My name is Patrick and live in Marshalltown. This summer I hope to volunteer for the Selden Spencer campaign against Tom Latham and maybe a local race for County Superviser. I have also talked to some people in town about organizing a canvass to register people to vote here in town.

I begin my first year teaching in August, so I am not sure how much I will be able to do in the fall. I will probably find some time in Oct/Nov to do some canvassing before the election.

I look forward to meeting some of you at the state convention.
