COPE (Communications Opportunity, Promotion and Enhancement Act) has passed the U.S. House without a 'net neutrality' amendment and will now head to the U.S. Senate. It is important that we tell both our Senators to either tack on such an amendment or vote no on COPE.
The Act provides an opening which will be exploited by telephone and cable companies: It allows for tiered access. That is, it allows smaller pipes or larger pipes to be created from point A to point B and effectively kills what has been a level playing field for businesses of all sizes. (Faster access to web sites which pay a fee... slower access to sites which do not.)
