Today in the mail I finally received a letter from Steve King our pukie representative for the 5th district in Iowa about the Delay vote.
That vote was how long ago :eyes: and he's just now getting back to me :grr:

Dated Dec. 17th, 2004 (But received in the mail today)

Dear 'Me' ;-)
Thank you for contacting me regarding the recent Republican Conference rule change. The new rule resulted from a Nov. 17th, 2004, Republican Conference meeting.

This closed-door meeting strengthened the Conference rules concerning convictions for Republican Members of the House by repealing Rules 25 and 26 and creating a new, more effective Rule 25. Under the new rule, a leader will be removed from his or her position immediately upon conviction, rather than indictment. Actions that bring shame upon Congress must be addressed immediately. Therefore, we additionally amended the rule to state that in the event of an indictment from any legitimate legal authority in America, the steering committee must meet within 30 days to evaluate the relevant merits of the indictment and make a recommendation to the full conference as to what action, if any, should be taken.

The most basic tenet of justice is "innocent until proven guilty." House Republican rules, prior to the voice vote, automatically remove a leader of committee chair from a leadership position solely upon an indictment by any prosecutor at any level of government. House Democrats have no such rule. One of the most important aspects of the new rule is its increased protection from partisan accusations. The political mudslinging that has already occurred over this new rule is evidence of its importance.

Our rule change is not an attempt to protect any certain member of Congress but to ensure that leaders will not be removed without just cause by a partisan prosecutor's ability to easily remove a political enemy from power, and to continue to provide a mechanism to maintain the highest standards due the American people by members of Congress.

I appreciate hearing from you. Feel free to contact me again if you have further questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Steve King
Member of Congress

"MUD-SLINGING"? He has the GALL to infer that it is the Dems doing the mudslinging? "INNOCENT" until proven otherwise? And the sarcastic comment that the Dems have no such rule. :nuke: oooooooh These people have no fucking shame. Not one fucking iota.
