Electricity rate hike expected in Mass.

From Boston.com...

-----------------

More than 1.5 million electricity customers in Massachusetts can expect to see a rate increase of about 7.5 percent soon because of a long-anticipated change tied to deregulation of the state's electricity market. The increase will take affect after Feb. 28 with the expiration of a mechanism called standard-offer service, said David L. O'Connor, commissioner of the state Division of Energy Resources. The mechanism allowed customers to maintain the same service from before deregulation, easing the transition following a 1998 law restructuring the state's electricity market. The rate increase will occur because standard-offer service customers will be shifted to a default rate set every six months based on the market price of electricity. (AP)

1. Time to reframe the word "deregulation"
into something like "freedom to plunder"

or "license to loot"

3. Beware of "privatization" too.
Or "personalization".Or whatever the word their focus groups tell them to use, in regards to SS.

2. I'm so glad deregulation led to so much competition in the market...
Oh wait...I have absolutely no choice whatsoever except to pay the fee hike because there is no one else i can get power from in MA.

Good call on this one.
