Candice Miller considers bid to unseat Sen. Stabenow
PUBLISHED: January 8, 2005

By Chad Halcom
Macomb Daily Staff Writer

While stumping for lawsuit reform in Michigan on Friday, President Bush managed to draw thunderous applause and widespread interest on two topics -- the legal issue for which he had come, and the Harrison Township congresswoman he introduced to the crowd early in the proceedings.

"Sounds like they've heard of you," the president told the crowd after a loud welcome for Rep. Candice Miller, R-Harrison Township, who may be considering a run for the Senate against first-term incumbent Debbie Stabenow, D-Lansing, in 2006.

Miller's spokesman indicated Friday that the president has at least casually discussed her interest in a possible run for the Senate seat. She is reportedly thinking of running, but plans no immediate announcement.

"She's not driven by blind ambition. She doesn't make rash decisions," Miller spokesman Jamie Roe said. "She has to do what she thinks is best for her, her family and the state."

1. Notice how she puts the state's interests last.
With herself coming first.

2. Here's One I Think We Really NEED to Protect!
My view from here in Maine ia that I'd hate to lose either Sen. Debbie or Gov. Jennifer!

4. I am with you
Debbie wining this seat was one of the only things that eased 2000 for me.

She is a state treasure that we must work hard to re-elect

5. Did anybody see her during the election challenge last week?
She stood and made her little "conspiracy theory" speech. What a witch. I will move mountains to keep Stabenow in office.

7. Stabenow has mad loot!
Miller would be crazy to take on Stabenow and give up her house seat. That seat was custom made for her in 2000, and the senate would be a long shot at this point given Stabenow's fundraising potential. It would be crazy to run, but who knows what she is thinking.
