Phil Truran.
From his website (
http://www.truran2004.com):
The son of a Michigan small manufacturer, Phil Truran learned the value of hard work at an early age. Growing up on Hix Road in Livonia, Phil saw his father's auto prototype shop forced out of business, and learned first-hand the costs of a faltering economy to Michigan's families. Phil resolved himself to do everything he could to speak out for those ignored by the powerful when times were tough.
After receiving his pilot's licence at age 20, Phil Truran left Michigan to serve his country. Phil served in the Navy for five years, gaining the respect of his crewmates in Operation Deep Freeze and on board the aircraft carrier Nimitz, standing up for shipmates when times were hard. Phil's time in the Navy — shipboard and stateside, in the Antarctic and on the Pacific — led him around the world.
Now, Phil Truran has returned home. After receiving his business degree from Wayne State, Phil himself founded small businesses in Plymouth, passing on the ethic of entrepeneurship to his two children.
Phil Truran, now President of Communication Workers of America Local 4013, works every day, fighting to protect the rights and the jobs of Michigan's information-age workers.
Phil today lives with his daughter Megan and son Todd in Novi near the shores of Walled Lake, where they attend public school.
Today, Phil Truran is ready to take the fight to Congress.
