Official "We Love Mark Dayton" Thread
I missed it, but it sounds like Mark beat Rummy like a rented mule during the Armed Servic Committee hearings.

Can anyone provide a more detailed synopsis?

2. He was kicking ass...badly...
he asked something like "is it common practice for the military to silence the media" ... those are my words ... maybe someone remembers exactly what he said.

I just went to the freerepublic and saw that they posted a thread with Dayton's address & phone number and ask their brainless members to freep Mark Dayton. Some of those idiots already sent hate mail to him or called. He'll probably get a kick out of those messages. They sound like a group of 3rd graders...

10. One of us should post....
your comments and Viking12's information on the General Discussion Forum on Monday morning. If Dayton is going to hear from Freepers across the country, he should hear from supporters too.

Any volunteers?

11. He used the word "supress"
I don't have cable, so although I WAS watching the hearings, the networks all cut off coverage at 1:30 -- right after Hilary, and before Mark Dayton.

I caught a clip later on, where they showed just a snippet of Dayton's questioning. Your paraphrase sounds about right, but the verb he used was "suppress" -- I remember that clearly.

4. didn't see it, but...
I would like to add that he ROCKS!! I got to meet him really briefly a few weeks ago, and he's also super-nice.

Is there going to be a transcript of the hearings available? I really want to see this.

6. Picking up the Wellstone torch!!!
Saw Mark today. He was superb.

He was also ONE OF ONLY THREE Democrats to vote AGAINST the confirmation of Negroponte for Ambassador.

Mark has EARNED our respect and support. I no longer send the DNC money. Mark gets my money to use as he sees fit.

8. That's what I told the DNC when they called!
First of all, they had the nerve to say we were all united behind Kerry-- a wee bit of a sticking point with many DK folk (the convention is not until JULY). I told them I will support them when the time is right, but for now there's a number of progressive candidates in this state that need my money more than they do.

After all, they just have to lean on the big insurance companies a little harder to get more money. Hey, since the party won't support single-payer universal healthcare, they may as well get their money's worth.

7. Mark Rocks
Caught him on the CSPAN repeat of the hearing and now I'm catching him on Hardball.

His heart has always been in the right place and he's a great guy and now he's really finding his footing. We have to get him reelected.

9. He did alright
Unfortunately, he's still got the mumbles when it comes to speaking "off the cuff", but he still got his point across and got Rummy all pissed off, which was worth the price of admission alone, IMHO.

One of the first party events I ever went to was in 1988, when the Dukakis campaign opened an office in Mankato that spring. I was a co-coordinator for my college at the time (Gustavus, 10 miles north in St. Peter), and went down for the "office-warming". Mark was the campaign rep in attendence, and he was very cool, easy to talk to, and just an all around good guy. I've been following him ever since.

I'm glad to see that he's back to giving his Saturday night party at the state convention-- his ones in the 1980s were legendary!

12. Still unhappy about his vote on the "rights of the unborn"
Cheney recently praised this vote as a sign of the erosion of abortion rights.
