Was nice while it lasted
Earlier this year I got a part time job with a local branch of an international company. As part of the high-tech group, it suffered during the early 20s but last year had a tremendous increase in sales and needed help and I decided to give it a try.

I liked it and my co-workers (when not admiring Bush) liked me. But now business is slowing again, and I was "let go." Supposedly, directives from HQ.

During the past decade both of us have been through so many lay offs that I just shrugged. Well, it helps to have a second income, for all those out of touch who declare that two incomes are only to buy "stuff."

I wonder whether I can still qualify for unemployment payments, even though I was a part time employee.

Leaving town tomorrow for an earlier planned trip so I will play Scarlet O'Hara and will "think about it tomorrow."

1. In most state you CAN qualify for Unemployment if you have...
a certain number of weeks you worked and/or a certain amount of earnings, etc. It is not based on whether you were considered "full time" or "part time" as an employee.

Go to your local Unemployment Office ASAP and see about filing a claim. There may be a window of time in which you have to file or lose your benefits.

Good luck!

3. I hope this answers your question:
Benefits Terms Defined

Account
An Unemployment benefit account becomes effective the calendar week in which an applicant makes an application for benefits. In order to establish an account an applicant must have:
(1) wage credits in two or more calendar quarters of the applicant's base period; (2) high quarter wage credits of at least $1000; (3) wage credits, in other than the high quarter, of at least $250.

You can find the answers to most of your questions and fill out an application for unemployment benefits at this website:
