Woohoo!! Yucky...err..I mean Yecke is toast!
The MN Senate just booted Yecke (Pawlenty's education commissioner). This is the first I've heard of it. She's gone--no deposit, no return.

1. Good enough!
I wonder if Molnau (lt. gov. and MNDOT head) will "lose" her job as head of the Dept of Transportation?

One good non-confirmation deserves another!

3. I grew up around a bunch of Molnaus
and I wouldn't vote for them if you paid me.

4. You must not live in Chaska, then?
Good ole Carol "Pave It" Molnau will have to go back to "just" being Lt. Governor (I HOPE). It's the short-sightedness of her and her cronies (like Sen. Dick Day, R-Owattona) who seem to think the solution is to just add more lanes.

This state deserves better than Yecke and Molnau.

12. I used to go to school in Chaska - St. John's Lutheran
packed full of Molnaus. That was back in the 'dark ages', when I wasn't a liberal (oh, the shame!!!). However, Molnaus have NEVER been favorites of mine.

2. Fabulous!!!!!!!!
That disgusting ***** tried to rewrite history, taking reference to Democratic presidents out of the social studies curriculum for students in Minnesota. Just like Hitler, Stalin, Lenin... the repukes will stoop to new lows in everything they do.

7. Oh, didn't you get the memo?
You see, that was only a "draft" of the standards. Just a "draft," so don't worry, you silly Democrats. (Understanding, of course, that "draft" is code language for "trial balloon.")

6. The best news of the weekend.
I saw a clip of an interview with her following the REJECTION and it was priceless. She was so bitter and whiny.

Yecke, when you got done with the Virginia school system, its students ranked 50th in the nation! FIFTIETH! Koresh, did we even need another reason to REJECT your sorry ass?

8. WhooHoo!
That woman makes my skin crawl. So Minnesota wants to expand the "bio-engineering" industry...well not if the fundies can help it. Thank god she got the boot. I wouldn't want Minnesota to go back to the dark ages.

9. yes!
we're starting to earn victories over Pawlenty! First we stopped the death penalty, have probably stopped the anti-gay marriage amendment, and now this! woohoo!

10. Didn't her spouse also get a job here
was helped by her connections?

I caught a glimpse of the news where she complained that there is not such thing as "Minnesota nice" - this is true but that's besides the point.

11. Perhaps we could throw her a "nice" going away party.
When she packs her bags and heads back to Virginia!
;-)

13. Did you see the recent article about Yecky? She says she has a ton
of job offers from all over the country, including from bush admin Education Se'cy Ron Paige (he's the idiot who said teachers are terrorists).

Yecky also said she has given a list of names to Pawlenty to consider as her replacement. Also - she may get a job on right wing talk radio. Ick - ick - ick!

But thankfully, her hands are off Minnesota education.

14. Yes, Paige made the crack about how the "NEA=terrorists"...
but he also was exposed as a complete con man over the "Texas miracle"; it turned out to be an Enron-style shell game with educational statistics. Basically, they figured out some pretty clever and devious ways to cook the books, remove dropouts by the tens of thousands so they wouldn't even exist in the census, etc. Some teachers actually exposed the whole shameful mess. Paige is just scum.

I just got a forwarded message from the MN-Politics list (on Yahoo, I think) that went into some detail about Yecke's supporters. They're the zealots behind the Maple River Education Coalition (now called EdWatch), anti-evolution crazies, and voucher proponents. And I personally heard Yecke on KKMS (980 AM), a freeper/fundie talk station. She appeared on "In Focus with Joyce Harley" for her regular "Education Wednesday" feature, which is about as hostile to public education as you can get. The EdWatch idiots were on Harley's show constantly.

Nick Coleman has a great column in today's Star-Tribune about Yecke, and there is also an editorial about her as well, which is the usual wishy-washy Star-Trib kind of thing but has some good information.

15. Nick Coleman's column reveals just how bad Yecke was
Her committee was arguing about whether children should be taught about the concept of inference (e.g. inferring that someone is feeling cold because they've put on a sweater) because it might teach them to question the literal authority of the Bible.

Jesus wept!

Read this column and weep along with Jesus.
