How bout a 10 watt station in Crawford, Texas?

It can be set up for a few hundred bucks.

Broadcast for 2-5 miles.

8. So they're just trading stations?
"The seller? Starboard Media, the Catholic radio network which is assuming control of WMNN at the end of the month. Starboard's "Relevant Radio" programming currently airs on KSMM"

9. It would appear so.

See my previous posts in the thread on "1280-AM 'The Fascist'" about "Irrelevant Radio". They appear to be an Opus Dei front, or at least sympathizers. The people involved with Starboard have been at this a long time. They had a lame network a few years ago called "CatholicFamilyRadio" (nice Orwellian title) that had a spectacular crash and burn. They lost their shirts, but they're back, just like cockroaches.

I don't know why they're selling KSMM. I think they bought it from some Spanish-language broadcaster.

11. Here's some more detailed info
Courtesy of Northpine.com, a local broadcasting page:

MINNESOTA:
The liberal talk lineup assembled by the Minnesota Production Network will move from WMNN/1330 (Minneapolis) to KSMM/1530 (Shakopee) on May 24. MPN announced Friday that it has reached an agreement to purchase KSMM from Starboard Broadcasting. MPN had been leasing time on WMNN, which Starboard purchased from Minnesota Public Radio, and plans to use as a new home for its Catholic "Relevant Radio" network. MPN founder Janet Robert told the Pioneer Press that the planned lineup for KSMM includes MPN's Wendy Wilde from 9-11a, Al Franken from 11a-2p, and Ed Schultz from 2-5p. AM1530's signal reaches most of the Twin Cities metro during the daytime with an 8.6kW signal, but drops to just 10W at night. KSMM has an application to move its transmitter to Eden Prairie, using 9kW day and 900W night, which would provide a much stronger signal to the metro area. (5/15/2004, corrected applied KSMM transmitter site 5/16)

The Eden Prarie move would be a great idea.

12. I just heard on the Wendy Wilde show today...
that MPN will be broadcasting on both 1530 and 740 AM, effective tomorrow. The 740 AM frequency was the main station for Starboard Network/"Irrelevant Radio", which as already mentioned is moving to 1330 AM. (Starboard was also simulcasting some of its shows from KSMM/1530, which was primarily a Spanish-language station). It's interesting that the Northpine site doesn't mention the change to 740 AM, just KSMM/1530. They've usually been on top of all the changes. It could be that the second frequency (740 AM) is something that has just been announced in the last 24 hours or so.

13. The 1530 signal is really weak for me.
I was unable to tune 740 in at all. I'm a bit disappointed. :-(
