Last week I recounted Shannon's running into Pawlenty at the movies
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=160x779I'm not sure how we got on the subject tonight but it went something like this:
Shannon: I don't care about politics. There's no difference between
Bush and Kerry (I think she gets that from my brother.)
Me: If Bush is reelected you'll care in a few years when you and your little friends are being drafted.
Sh: They won't draft girls.
Me: Sure they will. Equal protection clause of the Constitution - no way around it.
Sh: But, but, but.. Bush LET 9/11 happen (I don't know where she got that we haven't discussed it), he lied about that stupid war.
Me: You care about that?
Sh: Yes.
Me: Then you care about politics.
Sh: You know Bush wants to pass a law that says gay people can't get married.
Me: He wants a Constitutional amendment that says that. And, your buddy Pawlenty, who you thought was so nice, wants the same thing for Minnesota.
Sh: That is soooo gay (:wtf:)
Me: I wouldn't use that expression in this instance.
Sh: You know what I mean. If I run into Pawlenty again I'm going to tell him that's stupid. Why don't you take me to Washington, I'll stand in front of the White House with a microphone and tell Bush he's stupid. (That's my girl!)
