Mayor injured in parachute accident
Hamilton Mayor Glen Gilmore broke his shoulder and pelvis while parachuting as part of an international military friendship program off the coast of the Netherlands.

The mayor was evacuated by helicopter to a hospital in Leeuwarden on the Dutch mainland for treatment. He underwent immediate surgery to have two steel plates inserted in his pelvis and is recuperating in Leeuwarden

"I made a good exit from the aircraft," he said. "The canopy opened as it was supposed to, but we had had a couple windy days and I believe I got caught by a gust, and when I hit, I hit pretty darn hard."

Mayor Gilmore is a good guy, I hope he recovers well.
