Anybody else hear "The State of Things" today (5/18)?
Was listening during lunch. Interesting segment with one of the Nat'l Log Cabin Repubs (didn't write his name down- Christopher something). Initially, the discussion had to do with the LCR's parallel convention to be held at UNCG during the State R Convention.

About midway into the segment, he dropped a minor bombshell- just before the show he rec'd a fax from the State Convention, telling him that the LCR's will NOT be getting a table there and that his refund check is in the mail. Fax cited several stunningly homophobic planks from the State Convention platform, including the old standard "we oppose special treatment... which is why we won't let y'all do the same things we can" and "yaaaay, BSA!" garbage.

While I understand, and even admire, their courage in sticking it out and trying to reclaim their party from the wingnuts, I've gotta wonder just exactly how much abuse they can take before giving up on their dream...

2. Gays...
plus being Republican = oxymoron. I just don't understand the equation. Repube party will gladly take "gay dollars" but still screw them in the back. The things gay Repubes bend over for and still not get any pleasure out of it! LOL!

4. Now, now-
You know that with R's, sex has NOTHING to do with pleasure!

Actually, for the first time I actually understood where this guy was coming from- although I had to laugh when he brought up the old R talking points that LCR's support like Nat'l security, fiscal responsibility and limited gov't. Was wondering where the hell he's been for the past 3.5 yrs~

3. gays for repubs = no sense - women for repubs = no sense - blacks for
repubs = no sense
people for repubs = no sense

I don't understand how anyone can vote for a party that is so mean spirited toward everyone.

5. Que triste!
I actually feel very much for the idealists with opposing beliefs to my own, because they're in a similar situation... There are no truly idealistic liberal or conservative parties anymore... There's just the evil party and the not-as-evil party. As Bill Maher said, "The Republicans will piss on you and try to convince you it's in your best interests, and the Democrats will piss on you and hand you an umbrella." Eh well, Bush crosses several lines and it's all about Kerry this year, quite frankly.
