Last minute "gift" from Ohio
Edited on Fri Dec-30-05 07:20 PM by Earl from Ohio
Let's say that you either live in Ohio, and/or you owe Ohio Income Tax.

Let's say you owe over fifty bucks as a single person or over one hundred bucks as a married couple who files their taxes jointly.

How would like to make a contribution to any Ohio STATE candidate or state caucus and get that donation back DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR when you file your state income tax return?

In Ohio, if you make a donation to any campaign for Gov., Lt. Gov., Treasurer, Auditor, Att. General OR Ohio General Assembly (House or Senate). You get a dollar for dollar credit (not just a deduction) off of the bottom line of what you owe up to the aforementioned $50 per single filer or $100 for married filing jointly.

There has been much discussion over whether we have enough candidates for the State General Assembly. By making a "free" contribution to either the Senate Caucus or the House Caucus MAYBE a few more candidates could be induced to make a run.

This doesn't apply to federal candidates (like Congress) or local candidates.

But basically --what have you got to lose?

Here's everyone that I can think of. (I wish I had the time to try and list all of the individual General Assembly candidates but most don't {yet!} have web sites, let alone online contributions- BUT if you know of any, please chime in!)

3. This just in!
My far better half has reminded me of this email from a new candidate for the General Assembly. (I KNEW it was around here somewhere...)He's willing to run against Bob Latta- the son of Del "show me a solid piece of evidence and I'll show you a vote for impeachment" Latta of Watergate infamy.

Jeff is a nice guy and a very loyal Democrat who is willing to run against an extremely entrenched and WORTHLESS wingnut. Jeff understands that this race will not be "competitive." But Latta is... well, Del's son.

"I just wanted to advise you that my State House of Representatives
campaign committee is now setup.

Contact information is as follows:
The Committee to Elect Jeffery P. Bretz
404 East Walnut Street
North Baltimore, Ohio 45872

Your early and continued support is necessary to help turn Ohio blue
in 2006!

In advance, thanks for your support!

Jeff Bretz
Candidate
Ohio House of Representatives-6th District"

If others have contact info for other General Assembly candidates, please post!

4. Good luck to him!
He sounds like he has the qualities to be a good public servant. Its encouraging to see so many Dems challenging R's for the little known and underpaid offices in the Ohio General Assembly - but they're so, so important.
