CLEVELANDERS: anyone go to the Beachland Beat Bush Bash last night?
It was great. Can't wait for more of 'em. If This Moment in Black History aren't the future of rock, then I don't want to like rock anymore. The Cleveland Radical Cheerleaders certainly have potential, as well. A splendid conciousness-raising good time, IMHO.

2. Which one was he?
Edited on Wed May-05-04 12:23 PM by asthmaticeog
Did he speak, or was he at a table? I didn't pay much mind to the speakers or tables, to be honest - I'm the proverbial choir, after all. Between the music acts I mostly talked politics with fellow audience members.

Edit: spelling

3. He had a table and he was supposed to speak
I had another meeting, so I could not make it. I was just curious. Ya' gotta love that name--Beat Bush Bash

Hey, have you ever been to the Gravity Games? They hold them in September downtown every year.

4. If it were 15 years ago...
I used to skate, but I'm in my mid-30s now and waaaay done with that stuff. Plus I was never especially good with tricks - I was all street, doing rail slides and fleeing Cleveland Heights cops. It kind of bums me out me to see people kicking high ass on ramps that dwarf anything I ever saw back in the day. I hear the GG folks donated last year's ramps to the city for a skate park that they're already screwing up, though.

5. We are thinking of doing voter contact and voter registration there
Edited on Thu May-06-04 08:53 AM by SpikeTrees
We would prowl the crowd, asking for petition signatures and informing the attendees about environmental and political issues. We may have a booth, these are all very preliminary plans.

You know the skateboarding culture. Does this sound like a good idea or is it too far afield to relate? (psst, would you like to help?)

6. This Moment in Black History rocks.
Bim is a hell of a drummer (I'm also a big Bassholes fan) and a hell of a guy. My best friend is in the picture on the gatefold of their new album.

Of course, being in Milwaukee, I didn't see the show. But I do plan my (at least once or twice yearly) trips to Cleveland to coincide with Beachland concerts.
