1. We registered 34 voters in Mt. Healthy last weekend
West College Hill Memorial Day Parade is May 31 -- that an area with lots and lots of unregistered Democratic voters. I'm hoping that we can register 50 voters in one three-hour period.

2. Good work!
Now, how do we get them to actually go vote? I've not missed any election, primary, special or November since I turned 18. Three times I've had to do absentee. It is worth it!

6. Follow-Up
For those who are Mt. Healthy and Springfield Township, I'm keeping a database so that we can call and/or send a postcard the week before the election. We'll also include them in our Election Day GOTV calling.

5. The More the Merrier!
I'll have some literature for Harris, Portune and (I hope) Kerry. E-Mail me at mailroom@progressivecincinnati.org and I'll get you the details.

7. Hey, RitC ...
Do you have any info on any organizations that are attempting to educate college voters? I'm starting to get a little worried about that particular thing, and though I'm not great at 'face to face' stuff, if there's any active organization doing mailings or anything, I'd be happy to help out. I noticed you mentioned it in your post about the Secretary Of State's office, and I was wondering if there was any organized group working on it. The Rolling Stone article kind of got me worried, frankly. The organized attempt to hold down the young vote is just another way the bastards can grind us down in November, after all.

IM me if you know of anything in SW Ohio or Dayton, I'd be glad to stuff envelopes or contribute money. It's an issue that's starting to make the hair stand up on the back of my neck!

8. A Few Sources
Edited on Thu May-20-04 12:36 PM by ritc2750
A couple of these are pretty specific to Cincinnati, but they may be able to help.

Erich Streckfuss is the President of the UC Democrats (and a candidate for county commissioner). You can reach him at votestreckfuss@yahoo.com

David Schaff is the President of the Hamilton County Young Democrats. He can be reached at daveschaff@hotmail.com

Greg Harris is a candidate for the Ohio First Congressional Distrcit. He's a Miami University grad and still has lots of connections in Oxford. You can reach Greg at electgregharris@fuse.net

And then there are the Ohio Young Democrats at www.ohioyd.org -- I don't know much about them, since it's been a damnably long time since I was consider a "young" Democrat!

4. I agree turnout is key to winning any election.
I posted voter registration info on my Cincy area site. I know i have talked to a few people who are going to register this year. I hope the new campaign underground contains all the useful info too.
