New organizer for Kerry not yet abuzz in Cuyahoga

John Kerry's campaign has tapped Vel Scott to head its field operations in Cuyahoga County. Scott is a close friend of U.S. Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones and has led the congresswomen's political operations in the 11th Congressional District.

Scott is working out of the Cuyahoga County party headquarters until the campaign finds its own space. And at the moment, there's not a lot happening there, at least not visibly. (Still no Kerry signs in its windows and during a reporter's recent visit, the only thing buzzing in the office was a new air humidifier.)

The Regional Transit Authority wants President Bush to help celebrate the groundbreaking of the Euclid Corridor Transportation Project, the long-discussed, $168 million overhaul of Cleveland's main street. The RTA offered the White House two early fall dates.
