Hey Ohio ... want to win in 2006?
The 2006 mid-terms elections are now less than one year away. We are faced with the great opportunity to take back one or both houses of Congress, or at the least gain a few seats. The country is ready for a change and Democrats are the candidates best suited to advance those changes. We, the evilDUers, the grassroots, the groovers on the underground funkroad, WE are the ones who can empower our party!

"Ok so what?" you may say. "What can I do about it?" Well, the first thing I want EVERYONE to do is go to www.ourcongress.org and check on your district. This is a fantastic website - good layout, good info, and good links. It is clean and easy to use, but it is lacking people committed to keeping the information up-to-date. There are competitive races that haven't been updated since the last election cycle! Go there real quick, check up on your district, and do what you can. If someone is running in your district but isn't listed, make a quick post and share a link. If a nasty Repug is stinking it up and noone knows about, post it. If you've got time, look at the other districts and maybe give them a helping hand too. If you've got money, drop $10 or $20 to worthy candidates. We need to target EVERY district. NO GOoPer should run unopposed. If we run an aggressive campaign in every district, we WILL take back the congress and put this country back on the right path. (check this out ;) )

Next on the list - go to the research forum AND your state forum to find out more about our situation. What are the districts and states we can take back? Who is the incumbent? Who is the challenger? Do you have info that isn't posted or see something that isnt up-to-date?

Last - find a few good candidates that you support and send them some money. Its a sad truth but it takes money and lots of it to beat incumbent bush-bots. A few $$$ can make a big difference!

OK thanks for reading this whole thread. If you agree, read, kick and vote. PEACE!
-Alec

1. You know I was just going to say...
that we should just blow up everything south of Columbus and all would be groovy in Ohio.

2. Hey!
Those of us in the vicinity of Cincinnati would object.

I personally think Toledo could use a good razing, but I'm not advocating it. ;-)

5. Don't worry Mosin
We'll warn all the good folks there of any nefarious plans before it actually takes place. You can stay with us until the smoke clears...

We'll tell the northern Ohio freeps that Ted Nugent is having a Barbecue in Dayton: Free cheep beer, tons of pork barbecue, chewing tobacco, and a special appearance by Toby Kieth. There will also be free bibles for all the kiddies (King James version only please!) It's a plan so diabolically clever that only a mad genius like myself could come up with it...

Yes, parts of Toledo could indeed use a good razing, but I don't advocate any razing in reality myself.

3. Before we moved to Ohio
Edited on Thu Dec-01-05 08:26 PM by mongo
we drew a line across the state above Columbus and declared it the "line of pestilence". No way we would live above that line. Too many fire belching smokestacks and combustable rivers above the line.

Not to mention the fact that N Ohio gets 2-3 times the amount of snow we do.

4. But only half the fundies!
Especially you (and your business) could appreceate that one! Oh Mongo you're on the right side of the political fence but on the wrong side of Ohio!

The smoke belchers are less than what they were before thanks to the amazing shrinking/exported/outsourced economy...this is probably why I moved elsewhere. The river hasn't caught fire in 40 years (neither has the mayors hair!) However, the political climate is much nicer around Cleveland and Akron. Toledo generally is a pit, but that's just my humble opinion.

My second cousin had to move to Cinci for a job and was amazed by just what people do on the weekend as opposed to Cleveland:

Cleveland: Go downtown to the bars and restaurants or to a local place. See a museum. Catch the orchestra.

Cincinatti: Go to church. Go to the afterchurch social. Go to sunday school.

I'll take combustable rivers over the encroaching bible beaters anyday.

:smoke:

6. uhhhh
i don't know what part of cinci he was in, but that sure as fuck doesn't sound like it to ME. Just go near UC once in a while, and you'll see what I mean

also, you realize that you are advocating the destruction of massive portions of protected national forests! What, do you work for the bush administration?

8. All in the name of humor mang...
She was in one of the suburbs to the West towards Dayton as I recall.

I had some friends who went to UC. Great engineering and architecture school.

I know that in reality Cinci barely holds a flame to an ultra conservative town like say...Amarillo, TX. However, P&G has their whole fambly values effect on many of the employees in the area and there is a definite more hard red streak there. Especially the smaller towns along the Ohio river (eg. Steubenville.) The smallerI knew a gay guy who just hated that he couldn't be "out and about" publicly...he thought he was in hell.

Yes the Miami River valley is lovely.

9. OurCongress.org link not working
"A connection was refused when attempting to contact www.ourcongress.org"

Anyone know who is operating this domain ?

It is a valid domain, since google search pulls it up.
