Smarty Jones Boulevard?

Bensalem Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo said he wants the township's section of Street Road permanently renamed "Smarty Jones Boulevard.''

It would draw more attention to the famous horse's "real hometown," DiGirolamo said.

The mayor and many people in Bensalem seem convinced Philadelphia is stealing Smarty Jones.

National and local news media call Smarty "the Philly Flyer."

When Smarty won the Preakness race Sunday, Gov. Ed Rendell called it "a great day for Philadelphia."

I hate to agree with Republican jerk DiGirolamo, but Bensalem's my hometown, and I think this is a great idea.

But what if he doesn't win the Belmont? I believe he will, he's an amazing horse, but still- what if?
