South Texas Chisme
is a new blog I found with gossip about South Texas Politics. Today there is a post about Nueces County Judge Shamsie and Representative Luna.

Check it out! South Texas Chisme

1. That's an interesting blog, but I doubt that story about Shamsie. Who's
behind South Texas Chisme? It looks like a fun read.

2. I really hope that the story about Shamsie is NOT true
He's done a good job for us. He's a little different.

3. I agree. He's unquestionably served the community better than Lloyd Neil.

6. Say it isn't so, Terry!!!
Terry's done a great job, and taken quite a beating in the process. I can see where he'd just like to chuck it all and go do something fun. However, Nueces County desperately needs Terry to stay where he is. Terry's dug us out of big financial hole and set the county on a fiscally sane path. That wasn't and isn't an easy job, but somebody has to be the adult. If Terry doesn't run, the borrow-and-spend Republicans will have a shot at getting in and doing for Nueces County what their glorious leader is doing for (to?) the country. I take care to live within my means and expect my government to do the same. Terry's one of the very few politicians I'd trust with my pocketbook.

Has he made up his mind for sure, or is there still a chance he can be persuaded to run? What can we do to get him to stay on? He's too honest to take a bribe (and I'd never vote for anybody I thought could be bought), but I know more than a few people who'd be happy to donate their time to his reelection campaign.

4. Here's the item that caught my eye

Juan in a Million?

Expect Juan Garcia a former Lt. Commander in the Navy to file for St. Rep. against Gene Seaman.

Juan has hired the Arthur/Nathan consulting firm from Austin, Tx to do his campaign. Garcia has had past rumor "fame" when he was expected to run for Corpus Mayor then for U.S. Senate. So many have asked is he is for real or merely just a Bloggers dream?

He's a dream come true for sure. A friend of Juan's put up a web page a while back and the bloggers ran with it, literally drooling over him. (me too) There was much speculation about him running against Kay Bailey for the Senate seat. He had the republicans trying to recruit him to run for other House seats as a republican. But he's a solid Democrat with an impressive military background and Ivy League schooling. I met him at the Hispanic Leadership Summit this summer. I am so glad he's going to challenge Seaman. Seaman should be easy to knock off.

Way to go Juan!
:toast:

Sonia
