Garland, TX Ford Dealer Jerry Reynods: Pushed Ford over Bigotry cliff
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/12/06/AR2005120601733.html

The prospect of a boycott from the American Family Association, which gathered 110,000 signatures on an anti-Ford petition, worried some Ford dealers in the South, such as Jerry Reynolds of Texas. Reynolds said he started getting calls from customers and realized that a boycott would hurt business, so he faxed a letter to the association. "I said I am a dealer and I am the one who is going to get the brunt of the boycott," he said.

Reynolds and five other dealers met with Wildmon during the minister's subsequent visit to Dallas. In the meeting, he said, Wildmon agreed to give the dealers time to work things out with Ford officials. Subsequently, Ford executives held discussions with the association, including a meeting last month at the AFA's headquarters in Tupelo, Miss. After the meeting, the association agreed to call off the Ford boycott, saying in a written statement that its concerns were being addressed by the company.

Neither Reynolds nor Ford executives would specify what was discussed. Representatives from the American Family Association also declined to comment.

SO TELL ME JERRY, IF THE KLAN THREATENED A BOYCOTT, WOULD YOU MEET WITH THEM TOO? WOULD YOU KISS THEIR ASSESS TOO?

Here's how to reach Jerry (his web site touts his "patriotic writings?" what the fuck?):

5. Welcome to Freeperville
I just had to click the link.:puke: indeed!

My thoughts on this subject over Ford's decision to cut their support for the other American citizens who also know how to boycott a company. There is the gay community as well as the community of other kindred spirits ( I count myself in this group) who will not spend my money on a product that is bigoted, and "UnAmerican".

Do they think that we are not as strong in numbers?

Do they think that we cannot come up with more than 100,000 signatures?

Do they think anyone would want to be caught dead in one of their cars?

What makes them think that they can attack other American citizens, by allowing people claiming to be Christians to wield so much power over their corporate decisions?

Would Jesus commend their behavior? Or condemn it?

As for Jerry does he really think he is uniting the country with his bigoted behavior?

I think we should form an online petition, to wield our influence, if it's a war for the purse strings of democracy, then we can win by not supporting their efforts against a large population of Americans

3. Jerry only has $$$ in his eyes
Back in the '90s, Prestige Ford had a GLBT salesman for outreach to the community, and advertised in the local gay news weekly (Dallas Voice). Now that bigots threaten his balance sheet, Jerry does a complete 180.

Make up your fucking mind, Jerry. Do you want to serve all Texans with equal respect, or just the group your financial calculations show you can milk the most $$ from?
:nuke:

6. here's my two cents' worth
it's called capitalism. ford kowtows to the crybaby christians, ford can expect to only sell to the crybaby christians. what's that you say, ford? there really aren't that many of them buying fords to keep you in business because the majority of consumers are offended by this policy, voting with their pocketbooks & not buying fords? DEAL WITH IT!

7. Good 'ole Jerry has been way over the edge for a long time, IMHO.
check this one out. This letter from a solider is from early 2003, right after the beginning of the "war". Damn near pushed me over the edge at the time (I was mortified and enraged). Be sure to click on the link and see the pictures.

"The Letter":

Dear sir,
I am a B-52 Radar Navigator currently deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The other day, before a flight, I noticed a peace of paper with your name at the bottom and the words "Garland TX". Besides flying with a Pilot named Jerry Reynolds I was unfamiliar with who you were, but Garland caught my eye because that is where my wife is from. Anyway, I began to read the letter and I was deeply moved with what you had to say. Many of us got the opportunity to read this letter. We appreciate the kind words and support that you and others like you are giving us. I can't wait for this thing to be over so I can get home to my loving wife and child, but I assure you that until that day comes there is no other place that I would rather be than over the sky's of Baghdad raining hell on those that threaten America and our way of life.

Since then I have been to your website and read your other letters. Sir, you are a true American, and a patriot and knowing that there are people like you out there makes climbing into that old airplane just a little easier. I hope you enjoy the pictures of your bomb. It is a 2000 lbs, GPS guided, JDAM. I hope it's the one that got him. If you want the actual size pictures just let me know. Thanks you for your support.

Sincerely,

Rob
Capt, USAF
